Senior Women - Saturday, July 19th
- Two women claimed their spot on the World Team and another took cleared a hurdle to get their.
Helen Maroulis (55KG) was her dominant self in winning two straight over Sarah Hildebrandt. The four-time U.S. Open Champion posted a fall in the first match and followed it up with a 11-0 tech fall.
Randi Miller dropped her first match against Veronica Carlson at 69KG but rallied to win the final two matches, both in come-from-behind fashion, to make her first World Team since she was an Olympic Bronze Medalist in the 2008 Olympics. Carlson was the World Team Member last year.
Jenna Burkert won a weight class where she beat 2012 Olympian Kelsey Campbell in the semi's of the challenge tournament. Burkert would then go on to beat Brienna Delgado in two straight matches in the finals.
Jennifer Page won the U.S. Open over Burkert in April and was scheduled to sit in the best-of-three finals today. But an injury kept her from competing. She has requested a special wrestle-off, which if granted, will occur at a later date. Though indications are that the injury will prevent her from competing within the designated 15-day period.
