In gearing up for what will be the biggest and baddest FloNationals yet, we’ll be bringing you stud alerts as the top kids from around the country register for the deepest all-class folkstyle national championship.
Today we announce Luke Pletcher, the 120lber who has been nothing short of fantastic through his first two years of high school. Two state titles, a FloNational title, and a Super 32 title. Perhaps no other wrestler in the country has beaten as many Top 10 guys this past season as Pletcher has.
And FloNationals will present an opportunity for Luke to hit several more several lofty goals.
1. He's back after winning a FloNationals title last year with a win in the finals over Spencer Lee.
2. Another FloNationals title to cap off his season will undoubtedly make him the #1 wrestler in the country when the final ASICS FloRankings come out next week.
3. With a 3rd place finish in FloNationals as an 8th grader, Luke is on pace to become the first ever 5x FloNationals All American.
All the above being said, it won't be an easy chore for Pletcher. 120lbs is 60 wrestlers deep and absolutely loaded at FloNationals this year. It includes last year's 113lb FloNational Runner-Up Nick Piccininni, Super 32 Runner-Up Mickey Phillippi, California State Champion Israel Saavedra, State Runners-Up Brandon James (IN) and Mason Pengilly (CA) both who are coming down in weight.
To capture his second FloNationals title and the #1 spot to end the year, he'll have to earn it.
But that's why he's here!
Welcome back, Luke!
