Three Lehigh University wrestlers: Mitch Minotti, Laike Gardner and Mason Beckman, are in Ajinmoto learning and working out at Japan's National Training Center. They will be providing a daily blog to FLO documenting their trip and experiences. It all began from JFK airport in New York to Seattle to Tokyo-Haneda Airport.

August 16th - Laike is Jealous (by Mitch)

As of no surprise the schedule has only changed with a few minor details from the previous day. The run included an extra lap than yesterday and slightly easier field work.

I unfortunately tweaked my knee yesterday during practice so the run was pretty difficult. I supplemented push ups and other exercises when it came time to do sprints. Laike was jealous.

After the run we showered up and ate as usual and took a nap until our practice at 2. As I entioned my knee was feeling pretty stiff, therefore I warmed up and drilled for the first hour and began to wrestle live and after a few goes. It was still bugging me reducing my motion a bit, so i decided not to risk it on the last day and sat out. I iced it, then did sit ups and push ups the rest off practcie. Again Laike was jealous, although I almost would have rather wrestled because for an hour I was pretty bored.

At practice they did groups of 3-in-2-out one for 30 minutes, took a break, then changed groups and repeated. Practice ended with some shot-reshot drilling and we bowed and thanked the coaches as tradition like usual.

We are both pretty hype about tomorrow morning being our last workout because our bodies are physically beat up! Practicing at 2 is good and bad. Good because you get it out the way quicker, but bad because now we have to wait an hour and a half for dinner and me and laike dont know what to do with our free time.

It is raining today so our plan to go back into town and explore is shot and we have already done multiple fantasy football mock drafts,  and read all our magazines and books that we brought. In addition I took my final exam for my summer class last night so that is no longer a pest to my free time!

Tomorrow we have a run in the morning and then will be departing to the train station at 4:45 In which we have to switch trains once to get to tokyo station to meet Lehigh Grad Rei Suzuki, who wrestled under Coach Hutchinson, at 8:00pm. We are under the impression he will be taking us to dinner then the air port for our flight at 1:30am.

For the run tomorrow, I will be supplementing it for a weight lifting circuit outside to rest up my knee. Laike again is jealous. Sorry again for the lack of pictures we have been very tired. We will try to sort through our collection and add any we have left out.
