NBCOlympics.com to webcast preliminary sessions of Olympic Wrestling Trials, April 21-22

 

NBC Sports Network to Present 6 Hours of Wrestling Trials Coverage, April 22-23

 

USA Wrestling will partner with NBCOlympics.com to provide a live webcast of all four mats of the Challenge Tournament of the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Iowa City, Iowa, on Saturday April 21 and Sunday, April 22 beginning at 9 a.m. CT each day.

 

In addition, NBC Sports Network will present six hours of next-day coverage of the Olympic Wrestling Trials. The first day of Olympic Trials wrestling action will be aired on Sunday, April 22 from 4-7 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network. Final day action will be aired on Monday, April 23 from 3-6 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network.

 

NBCOlympics.com will be the place where sports fans can log on to watch the wrestling action, as the nation’s best wrestlers battle for the right to represent the United States on the Olympic Team.

 

Fans can log on to NBCOlympics.com each day at 9 a.m. CT for the preliminary, quarterfinal, semifinal and challenge tournament final rounds. The approximate ending time of each session is 3:00 p.m.

Each of the four mats streamed will have live commentary provided by outstanding wrestling broadcasters including USA Wrestling's Jason Bryant and Van Stokes, The Open Mat's Willie Saylor, BadgerStateWrestling.com's Shane Sparks and Ben Hupke of Hupke Wrestling Promotions.

 

Bryant, Sparks and Hupke have all been named winners of the National Wrestling Media Association's Broadcaster of the Year within the past four years. Stokes has been a longtime sports broadcaster, leading television broadcasts and webcasts for USA Wrestling for the last two decades. Saylor is the 2012 NWMA Journalist of the Year and has a broad background in wrestling across all levels and has spearheaded many of TheOpenMat.com's high school wrestling broadcasts the last three seasons.

The finals session of the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Wrestling will not be available on the internet, but will be broadcast on a next-day taped-delay on NBC Sports Network with NBC's Andrew Catalon and 1984 Olympic Greco-Roman Champion Jeff Blatnick providing the coverage.
