Olympic Champ Cejudo Moves to 10-0
2008 Olympic Freestyle Champion Henry Cejudo stayed undefeated in his professional MMA career Saturday night.
Fighting at 125lbs, Cejudo, who came in to the fight ranked 5th at the weight class, beat the UFC's #3 Jussier Formiga (Brazil) after a three-round Flyweight bout.
It was a split decision, 30-27, 28-29 and 30-27, that moved Henry to 10-0.
Despite his obvious supriority in takedowns, it was his work in stand-up that impressed the commentators who were surprised 'his striking is so clean after just turning pro in 2013.'
The win could position Cejudo for a shot at the title relatively soon.
The current UFC title holder in the Flyweight division is Demetrious Johnson, a 2004 state runner-up at 119lbs in Washington. Johnson has held the title in the division since UFC added it in 2012.
#1 contender Joseph Benevidez will likley be Johnson's next opponent, but Cejudo could pass Formiga and #2-John Dodson, who Johnson smashed in September.
