Lee Roper Joins UNI Staff

Northern Iowa wrestling took to Twitter to announce the addition of Lee Roper as the programs volunteer assistant.
As a competitor, Roper was a four year starter for Appalachian State, and an NCAA qualifier in 2003.
"How Lee goes about things is a fit for our program and how we are trying to raise men," head coach Dough Schwab said in the schools press release. "He adds some expertise in areas we don't have. We brought in a middle-weight guy to fill that role. He was highly sought after, but this is the place he wanted to be," Schwab continued.
"I came to UNI, because I belive in the passion and vision the coaching staff and athletes have set in place," Roper in the schools press release. "I wake up everyday excited knowing national championships are possible at Northern Iowa."

Roper comes to Northern Iowa after co-founding Compound Wrestling Facilities in McDonough, Georgia. Since the club opened its doors in 2008, Roper has helped coach 13 Division I wrestlers including former Panther All-American Joey Lazor, and current Panther Jake Hodges. As a competitor, Roper was a four year starter for Appalachian State, and an NCAA qualifier in 2003.
