Iowa Set To Shatter Attendance Record With Outdoor Dual
After Penn State earned a record sell-out at the Bryce Jordan Center to claim the all-time attendance record for wrestling, the Iowa Hawkeyes apparently came up with a plan.

Though nothing official has been released by the university, this cryptic tweet sent out by Iowa's official twitter account seems to tease the idea of an outdoor meet at Kinnick Stadium:

Outdoor meets are not completely unheard of in D1 wrestling.  West Coast teams Cal-Poly and Stanford have had outdoor duals.  Check out Cal-Polys match with Oregon State here.
However, an outdoor meet done in Palo Alto or San Luis Obispo is very different from Iowa City.  Not only does it stay much drier out west, with little risk of rain.  The average temperature in Iowa City on November 14th is 51 degrees according to Accuweather.com, whereas Palo Alto comes in at 65 degrees.

The opponent and the exact time have not yet been released.  Typically Iowa opens at home with the Iowa City Duals.  These meets have been tri's and quads historically against non d1 competition which beget lopsided wins for the Hawkeyes.  With this event being given such prestige, does Iowa go after tougher competition for the season opener?

At capacity, Kinnick Stadium can hold 70,585 people.  7 out of 8 home games for Iowa pulled in over 60,000 fans.  The Iowa State game drew over 70,000.

Penn State's record currently sits at 15,996.  A record obtainted when they wrestled Pittsburgh in December of 2013 in the Bryce Jordan Center.
