FloNats Stud Alert: Cohlton Schultz (Highlands, CO)
As we approach our 6th FloNational Tournament we will once again be bringing Stud Alerts of all the top competition from around the country that will be scraping for the deepest all-class folkstyle national championship in the country.
Over the years we have had a number of 8th-graders step up to battle in the high school division at FloNationals and this year is no different as Cohlton Schultz of Highland, CO will test himself against the nation’s best at 195-pounds.
The top-ranked wrestler on our Junior High Big Board already has an impressive list of accolades, which includes a Flo Kickoff Classic title and pair of Flo Tulsa Nationalschampionships.
Here's Schultz with the legendary Dan Hodge.
Luke Pletcher placed 3rd as an 8th grader and the next year, Spencer Lee lost as an 8th grader to Pletcher in the finals.
But there's never been an 8th grader who won the title. Think it's far fetched to expect Schultz to compete at that level?
Consider this: in a preseason tournament last fall, Schultz took Sr. Dylan Reynolds, who, two months later, would win Ironman, into overtime. He also has a win over nationally ranked Chance Cooper, a Missouri state champion.
Welcome to the party, Cohlton!
