It was a dominant win for Iowa as they took out the Northwestern Wildcats at Carver-Hawkeye.  Brandon Sorensen came up huge for the Hawkeyes with a win over NCAA Champion Jason Tsirtsis.  Read how it all went down here. 

125 #5 Thomas Gilman-Iowa v Garrison White-Northwestern
1st Period: Underway at 125 pounds and for some reasy they don't feel the need to show us the wrestling.  There was a takedown by Gilman early.  High crotch for Gilman and he's up 4-1. Escape and TD makes it 6-3, now 8-3. Another escape given up and another TD for Gilman.  Just peppering his legs.  Goes right to a tilt now it's 12-4 with 1 minute to go.  Escape given again and it's 12-5 Gilman.  Counter TD for Gilman and it's 14-5.  Takes him over with a bundle it looks like.  17-5 after 1.

2nd Period: White takes bottom.  Gilman lets him up.  17-6 now.  Shot by White and he's working for the finish.  Good hips by Gilman.  Gilman puts the near leg in and merkles him over for the turn and there's the tech!  22-6!

1st Period: Underway here.  Malone in on a single right away.  Clark stuffs.  Stalemated.  Clark trying to get to that 2 on 1.  Fakes a low single, now in the 2 on 1.  Malone trying to fight it off and does.  Nice high c by Malone but great counter by Clark and he goes behind for 2.  2-0 and Clark working the arm bar.  Clark nearly had the Gable turn but Malone fights it.  Clark getting a count with the bar and wrist and there's the pin!

1st Period: Single by Dziewa, trips and there's 2.  2-0 Dziewa.  Reinforced bar tilt for Dziewa and it's 5-0 and there's the ride out! 

2nd Period: Oster takes bottom. Roll by Oster but Dziewa nearly catches him.  Oster bellies down.  Oster warned for stalling.  Still 5-0 Dziewa.

3rd Period: Dziewa takes neutral.  Shot by Oster, both guys passing legs, nice scramble.  Stalemated.  24 to go. Time runs out.  6-0 final for Dziewa.

1st Period: Both guys exchanging clubs.  Guys trying to get to their ties.  Sorensen gets to his inside control but Tsirtsis clears.  High crotch from Tsirstis.  Sorensen steps out. Sorensen pulling the head.  Elbow control for Tsirtsis.  Both guys just feeling each other out.  Tsirtsis the only one who committed to a shot.  1st ends scoreless.

2nd Period: Tsirtsis takes bottom. Kid in crowd yells "Ride em like a dog!" Tsirtsis out in 30 seconds.  Sorensen made him work for it though.   Very nice ankle pick by Sorensen but Tsirtsis casually kicks out of it.  Period ends 1-0 Tsirtsis.

3rd Period: Sorensen takes bottom.  Up and out in 10 seconds.  1-1. RT not a factor! Sorensen taking ground.  Shot from space by Tsirtsis, no threat. 1 minute to go. Sorensen runs him out of bounds.  Single by Tsirtsis.  Crowd starting to pick up.  To overtime.  

SV1: Double by Sorensen but runs out of room.  They exchange singles.  Crowd wants the stall warning.  Not going to get it.  To tiebreakers!

1st 30: Tsirtsis takes bottom. Quick sit out.  Tsirtsis up to his feet and he's out.  
2nd 30: Sorensen takes bottom.  Tsirtsis drops down to the ankle, Sorensen gets away!  2-2 now! Crowd going nuts.

2nd Period: Sullivan takes bottom.  Kelly working the Gable turn again but  Sullivan recovers.  10-1 now.  Escape for Sullivan and another TD for Kelly makes it 12-2.

3rd Period: Kelly takes bottom. Up and out and it's 13-2 with RT close to being locked.  1 minute to go.  Nice single and finish by Kelly and it's 15-3 after he gives up the escape.  Another TD and ride out and there's the tech with riding time. 18-3.

1st Period: Underway here!  Moore back in action for the Hawkeyes after missing a few duals.  Fakes from Harger.  Moore in his face taking ground.  Snaps from Moore.  Nothing going on here.  Northwestern yet to score a TD this dual.  Tom or Terry: "Hows that single look for ya!?" Period ends scoreless.

2nd Period: Moore takes bottom.  Sit out for Moore.  Peeling hands but Harger returns.  Harger riding with that half but Moore is out.  1-0 with 1:14 to go. Period ends 1-0 Moore.

3rd Period: Harger takes bottom.  Nice reversal for Harger, escape for Moore right away and it's 2-2 with 1:43 to go. 1 minute to go now.  Nobodys shot.  Seriously. High crotch by Moore.  Harger locked around the crotch and it's stalemated.  9 to go.

SV1: Both trade shots, but they clear.  Moore gets to his tie, fires off a nice high crotch and finishes!  4-2 final!

1st Period: We're rollin here as are the Hawkeyes. Double unders to the single leg for Brooks.  Pulls him to center and gets the 2.  Escape for Sliga and an ankle-pick esque takedown for Brooks makes it 4-1.  Escape Sliga and it's 4-2 Brooks.  Another TD and ride out and it's 6-2 for Brooks.

2nd Period:  Brooks takes bottom.  Up and out for 1.  Shot by Sliga but it's a re-attack by Brooks for 2 more.  9-2 Brooks. Escape for Sliga makes it 9-3. 50 to go. Go behind for Brooks makes it 11-3, escape and it's 11-4.  Brooks just pouring it on.  13-4 after 2.

3rd Period: Sliga takes bottom. Escape  and it's 13-4.  Another single for Brooks and it's another 2.  15-4, now 15-5 with that escape.  Nice hips by Brooks off of a Sliga shot and he goes behind making it 17-6.  18-6 final.

1st Period: Big one here.  These two split last year.  Shot by Burak but Polizzi got a foot off the mat for the OOB call.  Another shot by Burak and once again Polizzi finds the out of bounds.  0-0.  An indescribable exchange, but Polizzi scores the 2.  He leads 2-1 after a Burak escape.  End of 1.

2nd Period: Polizzi takes bottom.  Escape Polizzi.  He leads 3-1.  1:30 to go. Once again Burak in deep but Polizzi locked around the crotch.  Off the mat again.  Burak to his 2 on 1, but clears.  End of 2.

3rd Period: Burak takes bottom.  He kicks away and runs Polizzi off the mat.  3-2 Polizzi.  1:30 to go. Surprised we haven't seen a warning against Polizzi yet.  1 minute to go.  Burak in on the High crotch and finishes! WOW!  He rides out for the win!  What a finish! 4-3 Burak!
