Dual begins at 2 PM EST

125-Nathan Tomasello, Ohio State vs Joey Dance, Virginia Tech

1st Period: Under way with two stout brick houses. Early clubbing with collar ties and underhooks, Tomasllow far ankle pick, Dance dives for an ankle... and we have a stalemate out of bounds. Tomasello in on a high crotch and finishes this time.  Dance escapes after about 10 seconds. Period ends 2-1.

2nd Period: Tomasello starts on bottom.  Gets two his feet twice but Dance returns him to his feet.  Up again and cuts around for an escape.  They trade high crotch attempts, wind up in an ankle grabbing scramble for about 45 seconds before the ref calls a stalemate.  Tomasello scores on another high crotch, Dance escapes with 8 seconds left in the period.  Period ends 5-2.

3rd Period:  Dance out in 15 seconds.  In on a low single, Tomasello is bouncing to defend.  Dance drops to grab the far ankle and finish.  Tie match, 5-5.  Tomasellow tries to sit out and winds up getting caught on his back for two back points!  He then escapes.  7-6 Dance with 1 minute left!  Tomasello high crotch, scramble with 22 seconds to go.  Stalemate with 18 seconds left.  Tomasello fires off a couple more shots but Dance is able to hold him off for the 7-6 win. 

133-Johnni DiJulius, Ohio State vs Kevin Norstrem, Virginia Tech

1st Period: Dijulius getting low, wrestling with one or two hands down on the mat.  Working to grab elbows in signature style.  Norstrem working with a lot of head taps and slaps, but trying to avoid giving up his arm to Johnni's vice.  Norstrem with the first real offensive attempt with a snap... nothing out of it, though.  First period ends scoreless. 

2nd Period: Dijulius starts on bottom.  Escapes in 17 seconds.  Johnni gets an elbow but Norstrem manages to break free.  Johnni gets it again, working around back but Norstrem is doing a great job maintaining composure.  Period ends.  Dijulius lead 1-0.

3rd Period:  Norstrem on bottom.  Johnni is tough on top, has Norstrem broken down with a leg figure four'd.  Stalemate.  Norstrem up to his feet on the restart, Johnni manages to rile him back down and throw a leg in, riding cross body.  DiJulius is now over a minute RT but Norstrem gets behind him and is near an escape.  Johnni regains control and picks up a stalling warning.  10 seconds left.    Norstrem granby and escape, but DiJulius wins 2-1 off RT.

141-Logan Stieber, Ohio State vs Jerry Ronnau, Virginia Tech

1st Period:  Stieber in on a single in around 5 seconds.  Gives up the escape 10 seconds later.  Quickly in on a double, switches to single and finishes to a 4-1 lead.  Stieber tilting for 3 back points.  Now he bars up the arm and rolls him for another 3 points... 10-1.  Re-bars and drives Ronnau over.  Nearly gets the pin but Jerry manages to free up off his back.  13-1 to end the first period.  

2nd Period: Stieber takes top.  He has one chance to pin before the match ends.  He quickly puts Ronnau on his back.  Ronnau fights it off valiantly for 20 seconds but succumbs.... PINFALL!!!

3rd Period:

149-Randy Languis, Ohio State vs Devin Carter, Virginia Tech

1st Period: Carter snatches a single, scores in 50 seconds.  Languis escapes quickly.  Carter throwby to a far ankle pick and manages to score after scrambling for a bit.  Languis is quickly up again.  Carter scores again with that throwby pick.  Ref stops the match so VT can clean up a cut on Devin's forehead.  On the restart, Languis escapes.  Period ends with Carter up 6-3 with 39 seconds of RT.

2nd Period: Languis starts on bottom.  Up and out, 6-4.  Carter scores and kicks him.   Carter scores again with a lightning quick throwby.  Languis quickly out and in on his own single leg!  His head is now buried, though.  Second period ends 10-6.

3rd Period:  Carter picks bottom.  Out in no time at all and goes on the attack.  Languis trying to hold him off, tie up arms, eventually draws a stall call.  1 minute left.  30 seconds.  Carter arm drag, but Languis circles away... no points.  12-6 final score.  

157-Josh Demas, Ohio State vs Sal Mastriani, Virginia Tech

1st Period:  Mastriani is even bouncier than Demas!    But Demas exploits a bounce for a double leg take down after 40 seconds.  Ref calls locking hands on a Demas mat return.  Tom Ryan challenges but the call is upheld.  2-1 Demas.  Sal is to his feet.  Stalling warning on Demas for holding a leg too long, even though he did wind up working up to grab the other leg and take Mastriani back to the mat.  1:48 left in first period, Mastriani still on bottom.  Demas doesn't hold on as hard this time in order to resist another stall or locking hands call.  Sal looking very energetic and aggressive with his darting, slapping style.  Demas with another double attempt but nothing.  And another, nothing.  Mastriani with a shot but can't grab a leg.  Period ends 2-2 with a stall warning on Demas.

2nd Period: Mastriani takes bottom.  Demas riding to the side with a leg in, Mastriani trying to shake him.  Winds up dropping all his weight on Demas, for which they award Demas a point.  Still on the mat.  A couple cautions on Demas.  Very strange match with all the penalties.  Mastriani escapes.  Demas has 1:18 RT and the match is tied.  They call Demas for stalling because Mastriani slaps him a lot but Demas has taken all the shots.  Mastriani actually leads 4-3, though.  They ding Demas again for stalling as he backs out of bounds.  5-3 Mastriani heading to the third.

3rd Period:  Demas starts on bottom and escapes quickly, maintains RT advantage.  Demas shot attempt.  A minute to go, Demas deep double, finishes for 2!  Mastriani escapes.  6-6.  Demas double, Mastriani reshot, Demas fights it off and re-doubles for a takedown and back points!  11-6, final.  

165-Justin Kresevic, Ohio State vs Chris Moon/Chad Strube, Virginia Tech

1st Period:  No real attempts... some clubbing and hand fighting, some standing from distance.  Nice head inside shot by Kresevic.  Moon rubber legs to the ankle for a scramble and comes out with the takedown.  Moon rides out the period to go into the second with 41 seconds RT.

2nd Period: Moon will start on bottom.  Out quite quickly, leads 3-0.  Shot tOSU, no dice.  20 seconds left... Kresevic shoots and Moon counters, close to a takedown but the buzzer sounds a second too soon for points.  Kresevic is taking all the shots in this match, but Moon is the one finishing them.

3rd Period:  Kresevic starts on bottom.  Giving a great effort to escape but can't do it.  Moon now has riding time at 1:10.  Kresevic escapes.  Takedown Moon.  5-1 Moon.  6-1 final score.

Ohio State winning 12-9 going into 174.

174-Mark Martin, Ohio State vs Zach Epperly, Virginia Tech

1st Period:  Epperly with a front headlock... stalemate 48 seconds in.  Martin with some knee and ankle taps but no firm commitments... halfway through the period now.  Martin with a double attempt from space but barely touches a leg.  30 seconds... 15... ends scoreless.

2nd Period:  Epperly begins on bottom.  Escapes after 17 seconds.  Epperly in on a single, Martin defending with a split and now a whizzer as Epperly works back.   Epperly limp arms out but Martin turns in to square up back at neutral.  Period ends 1-0.

3rd Period:  Martin on bottom, escapes in 5 seconds.  1-1.  Martin with a front headlock... Epperly breaks out of it.  Now Martin's double leg meets brick hips.  30 seconds left... 5... heading to OT.

SV1:  Martin slide by, transitions to a double leg, scramble position.  Scrambling... period ends wildly!

TB1:Epperly on bottom.  Martin rides him out but picks up a stall warning.

TB2:  Martin on bottom.  A granby attempt... Epperly rides him out.

SV2:  A couple shots, Martin tries to spin behind an Epperly one, but no good.  Period ends.

TB3: Martin on bottom.  Sits out but can't turn.  Epperly rides him out.

TB4:  Epperly on bottom.   Martin rides legs, rides too high.  Epperly shakes him off and reverses him to his back for a... PINFALL!!!!!! This places explodes as that result could win them the dual!!

184-Kenny Courts, Ohio State vs Austin Gabel, Virginia Tech

1st Period:  Gabel with a beautiful single leg to draw first blood!  Courts escapes after 16 seconds.  30 seconds left, Gabel shot.  Kenny with a single, trying to work around front but can't finish.  Period ends 2-1, Gabel.

2nd Period:  Courts starts on bottom.  Escapes after 10 seconds.  Gabel has a 26 RT advantage in this tied match.  Decent slide by attempt by Kenny but not good enough for a score.  Now he scores off a single leg.  Gabel escapes almost immediately, though, to avoid the peril under Kenny.  Kenny leads 4-3.  Period ends.

3rd Period:  Gabel on bottom.  Escapes with no trouble at all.  Tied up 4-4.  RT is not a factor.  Kenny single leg, picks it up, pulls him in.  Gabel touches his hands to the mat to give Kenny two points.  Kenny rides him for a bit but Gabel escapes on the way out of bounds to close the gap to 6-5.  Kenny strikes again!  8-5.  Kenny has 33 seconds of RT with 32 seconds remaining.  Gabel is broken down.  Match ends 9-5 after RT point.

197-Kyle Snyder, Ohio State vs Jared Haught, Virginia Tech

1st Period:  Haught in on asingle, chases Snyder out of bounds.  The ref doesn't award points but it was CLOSE!  Back at the center.  Haught in on that same single again but FINISHES on the edge this time for a 2-0 lead!  Snyder gives up just 6 seconds RT before escaping.  A minute left in the match now.  30 seconds... 20... 10... Snyder ankle pick, two points RIGHT at the buzzer for a 3-2 lead!  Dresser is challenging the call.  Call stands.

2nd Period: Snyder starts on bottom.  Up and out after 8 seconds.  4-2, Snyder.  High double leg for Snyder, right at Haught's hips and sits him down for 2 more points.  6-2.  Escape Haught.  Shot Haught.  TAKEDOWN HAUGHT on the edge again!  6-5 with Snyder on bottom. 28 seconds left.  Escape Snyder.  Period ends 7-5, Snyder.  

3rd Period:  Haught on bottom.  Snyder is attempting to ride tough so he can work toward that RT point for a change.  RT clock is at 46 seconds as they head out of bounds.  Stalling  warning on Snyder.  RT is now over 1:00.  Snyder flirting very close with a stalling point as Haught gets to his feet again and again and Snyder hangs on.  He manages to complete one of the few rideouts of his young career for an 8-5 win.  

Ohio State leads the match 18-15 going into the final match!  Not sure how the criteria are looking right now, but both teams have 1 pin.  It will all come down to heavyweight, folks... stay in your seats!

285-Nick Tavanello, Ohio State vs Ty Walz, Virginia Tech

1st Period: 2 minutes left... 1 minute left... 50... 40... 30... 20... Walz with a quick shot but Tav spins behind for a takedown!  Walz escapes on the edge.  Period ends 2-1.

2nd Period: Walz on bottom.  Up, Tav returns him.  Up again, escape.  16 seconds of RT for Tav.  2-2.  Shot Walz and gets behind, but Tav manages to clear the hands and spin behind to avoid giving up the takedown.  Period ends.

3rd Period:  Tav bottom.  RT not a factor.  Tav escapes quickly.  Deep single for Walz but GREAT hips by Tav to fight it off!  3-2 Tav.  Stall warning on Tav, then he shoots.  1 minute left.  They trade single legs, no finishes.  Stall call on Tav as they go out of bounds to tie it up!  30 seconds left.  Both guys going at it with Walz pushing the pace.  Period ends.

SV1:  Low shot for Tav... no points. Shot Walz.  No points.  Shot Tav.  No points!  22 seconds left.  Shot Walz.  Period ends.

TB1:  Tav on bottom.  Up and out in 6 seconds... SHOT WALZ FOR A TAKEDOWN.  Rides him out the rest of TB1.

TB2:  Walz bottom, Tav optional start.  No takedowns.... Walz wins 6-4!

Tie dual, 18-18.
