W2W4: Tomasello's First Test
Some huge duals and some very juicy tournaments this weekend. Where’s the drama going down this weekend? Check out the rundown and find out!

Friday, November 21

Iowa City Duals-The competition is light, but we’ll get our first look at who Iowa rolls out at 149 and 157, respectively.

Penn State v. Pittsburgh-At 125 I’m excited to see Dom Forys take on Jordan Conaway. At 184 Max Thomusseit v. the surging Matt McCutcheon could be interesting as well. Will we see Tyler Wilps v. Matt Brown? That’d be a monster match up as well as Morgan McIntosh v. Nick Bonaccorsi.

Michigan State v. Minnesota-Javier Gasca is coming off a huge weekend and will likely face Chris Dardanes. John Rizqallah at 184 taking on Brett Pfarr will be a nice test as well.

Saturday, November 22

Nebraska v. Duke-
At 141 we could see Brandon Gambucci v. Anthony Abidin. At 157 James Green will likely face Immaneul Kerr-Brown. Conner Hartmann of Duke will face Micah Barnes of Nebraska.

Oklahoma v. Cornell-I’m excited to see how Ryan Millhof fares against Nahshon Garret. It’ll be a monstrous test, but Millhof can athletically surprise people. Maybe he keeps this to a respectable loss? At 133 Cody Brewer should face Nick Arujau. It was a few years ago, but Arujau stuck Brewer during their Freshman seasons.

Nebraska v. NC State-Tim Lambert v. Joe DeAngelo at 125 should be a great test for DeAngelo who the coaches expect big things from in his senior season. The biggest matchup will come at 157 pounds when Thomas Gantt will take on James Green.

Joe Parisi Open-
Always a great tournament out in Lindenwood. We’ll see Oklahoma State there, let’s see who emerges then and we will likely have a good idea who the starters will be.

125- Eddie Klimara will be challenged by Austin Miller and Barlow McGhee.

133 - True Freshman Jered Cortez from Illinois, Zach Synon from Missouri. Illinois Zane Richards will be a big favorite at 133

141-We’ll see Dean Heil in action here at 141 for the Cowboys as well as Iowa’s Seth Gross and Logan Ryan. Liberty’s Ryan Diehl is always a blast to watch.

149-Josh Kindig will be the man to beat here. He’ll be challenged by Brody Grothus as well as Brandon Sorensen of Iowa.

157-We’ll have Anthony Collica here as well as his Cowboy teammate Chris Koo. As of now Chance Marsteller is registered in the Freshman/Sophomore division. Very interesting.

165-Alex Dieringer is here. He’ll be unchallenged here. Burke Paddock of Iowa is potentialy the biggest challenger.

174-Kyle Crutchmer and Jordan Rogers of Oklahoma State will be squaring off for the 174 spot at Oklahoma State. Josh Llopez, of Liberty will be fun to watch as well.

184-OK State’s Nolan Boyd is here, and that’s about it.

197- Austin Schafer, Nathan Burak and Cody Krumwiede are the top contenders with Burak being the guy to beat.

285-Devin Mellon is here for MIssouri as well as Austin Marsden from Oklahoma State and Sam Stoll of Iowa.

Navy Classic
125-Ryan Taylor from Wisconsin is the man to beat with Kevon Powell (Ohio) , Paul Petrov ( Bucknell) and Sean Boyle (UTC) the biggest challengers in a pretty deep weight.

133-Nick Soto of UTC Is the highest ranked guy. He’s challenged by Mack McGuire (KSU), Cory Stainbrook (WVU) and True FreshmanJens Lantz ( Wisconsin).

141-Joey Ward of UNC is the favorite here followed by Mike Morales (WVU), Rylan Lubeck (Wisconsin), Sahid Kargbo (George Mason) and Coy Ozias (Princeton).

149-Tywan Claxton (Ohio) is the man to beat here. He’ll be pushed by Michael DePalma (Kent State) and Adam Krop (Princeton).

157-Ian Miller is currently registered, though I wonder if he will be cleared to wrestle. Spartak Chino of Ohio looks like the best equipped challenger here.

165-Isaac Jordan of Wisconsin is the top dog here, he could face Corey Mock of UTC in the finals unless Harrison Hightower (Ohio) and Peyton Walsh (Navy) can pull an upset.

174-Cody Walters of Ohio will likely be the man to beat here though Caleb Marsh (KSU) and John Staudenmeyer of UNC could stand in his way.

184-Ophir Bernstein of Brown will look to get back on track after a rough weekend. Alex Utley (UNC) and Ricky Robertson (Wisconsin) will provide good depth here.

197-Timmy McCall of Wisconsin is here. Keep your eye on Princeton’s Abe Ayala. Love his upside.

285-Connor Medbery is head and shoulders above the competition here, though Joe Stolfi can athletically match almost anyone.

Sunday, November 23

American v. NC State-David Terao will tangle with Joe DeAngelo of NC State. Should be a good one.

ISU v. Michigan State-
Another big test for Javier Gasca as he will face returning AA Earl Hall. Should be a great matchup!

Missouri v. ODU- Brandon Jeske v. Alan Waters should be a blast to watch, though Jeske will have his hands more than full. 141 could be the best match of the night if we see it. Chris Mecate will take on Lavion Mayes of Missouri. Both of those guys are under the radar hammers! At 184 Jack Dechow will have an opportunity for revenge against John Eblen of Missouri who beat Dechow early last season.

Ohio State v. Virginia Tech- The best dual of the weekend in all likelihood. Though we won’t see Hunter or Bo for TOSU and Brascetta for VT, it still will have some great matchups. At 125 Dance v. Tomasello will be phenomenal. Tomasello has destroyed all comers, but hasn’t faced anyone on the level of Joey at this point. At 133 Kevin Norstrem will have Johnni DiJulius. Could be a sneaky close match. Will we see Logan bump up to Devin at 149? Who knows. Sal Mastriani will likely wrestle against Josh Demas at 157. Mastriani’s pace is his biggest weapon but Demas is as slick as they come. Mark Martin will take on the red hot Freshman Zach Epperly. Austin Gabel will have his hands full with Kenny Courts at 184. The match could come down to 285 where Ty Walz will face Nick Tavanello.

NYS Championships-With Cornell, Army, Hofstra, Binghamton, Columbia and Buffalo in attendance we should have a pretty tough field here.

141 should be a tough field with Jamel Hudson and Mark Grey. Jace Bennett and Bryce Barnes could meet at 197. Jacob Aiken-Phillips and Binghamtons Tyler Deuel should make for a great matchup at 285 pounds.

Keystone Classic-

125-Evan Silver of Stanford is the highest ranked guy here. He’ll be challenged by Dom Forys of Pittsburgh and Dom Parisi of App State.

133-Kevin Devoy (Drexel) ,Dom Malone (Northwestern), Caleb Richardson (Penn) and Rob Deutsch (Rider) are the big hitters here. Deutsch is likely the favorite but it’s a very even field.

141-Todd Preston of Harvard is the man to beat here but he’ll get competition from Chuck Zeisloft (Rider) and Jameson Oster of Northwestern.

149-Jason Tsirtsis of Northwestern is the lead hammer here in an extraordinarily talented field. Dylan Cottrell (App State), BJ Clagon (Rider), Colin Holler (SDSU), CJ Cobb (Penn) and Mike Racciato (Pitt) are all here! Wow!

157-Cody Pack of SDSU is the lone ranked guy here, but don’t sleep on this bracket. Bryce Brill of Northwestern, Chad Walsh (Rider), Ray Bethea (Penn) and Zachary Strickland (App State) will all be tough outs. Keep your eye on Bryce Brill here. Just sayin’.

165-Another tough field with Taylor Walsh (Indiana) and All American Pierce Harger (Northwestern) leading the way. Connor Brennan (Rider), Jim Wilson (Stanford), Casey Kent (Penn), and Cody Wiercioch (Pitt) All have a shot at breaking into the top tier here.

174-Pitt’s Tyler Wilps is the top dog here as he’ll look to fend off the surging Keaton Subjeck from Stanford.

184-We should have a dandy of a final between Pittsburgh’s Max Thomusseit and Penn’s Lorenzo Thomas. Mitch Sliga and Clint Morrison will provide solid depth here.

197-A deep but even field features a number of solid gys. Pitt’s Nick Bonaccorsi , Northwestern’s Alex Polizzi and SDSU’s Nathan Rotert are the big guns here. Donald McNeil and Luke Sheridan could potentially upset the apple cart here.

285-It’s Mike McMullan’s World here. The #1 ranked 285 in the land will look to fend off JJ Everard (SDSU), Nathan Butler (Stanford) and App States Denzel Dejournette!
