If you listened to his press conference or post match interview from Who’s #1, you became very aware that Matt Kolodzik was the whole package.
Charismatic and articulate, Kolodzik entertained reporters, then entertained the crowd in a 4-0 win over Ke-Shawn Hayes (MO) to become the nation’s new #1 wrestler at 138lbs.
In the midst of that performance, many fans started to whisper, ‘I wonder where he is going to go (to college).’ The topic made its way to the twittersphere with speculation and false surety. Stanford, they said. Virginia, they said. Well now we know.
The nation’s top uncommitted prospect has made his decision, opting for Ivy status at Princeton, where his brother Daniel also wrestled.
“After an arduous decision process I have finally reached that conclusion, and I couldn’t be more happy to be following in my brother’s footsteps with a wrestling program that is on the rise and will continue to be in the coming years.”
Originally from Ohio, Kolodzik won a state title before winning two National Prep crowns for Blair Academy (NJ). He’s also reached the prestigous Ironman finals three times winning two titles.
Princeton has put together a very solid recruiting effort recently. In addition to Kolodzik, they’ve wrangled Mike D’Angelo (NY), Joe Tavoso (NJ), Patrick D’Arcy (NJ), and Chase Piperato (GA). NJ State Champion Ty Agaisse is already committed for the Class of ’16.
Flowrestling would like to congratulate Matthew Kolodzik on a fine weekend, career, and college decision!
