Myles - Zahid Announced for Who's #1
Models of consistency.
Could you think of another match that would pit two wrestlers that have been as successful, as long, as Myles Martin and Zahid Valencia? Both wrestlers have reached the finals of major tournaments seemingly everywhere they go, for years! And both have laid claim to not only the #1 spot in the rankings, but as the #1 overall recruit in the Class of 2015.
Myles Martin has been on a stretch where he's a shoe-in for the finals every time out. Ironman, Beast, FloNationals, Fargo...he's been to the big stage of the nation's premier events.
In fact, Myles has made the finals in 8 out of the last 9 majors he's entered!
And he remains the most coveted recruit that's still available on the market.
His opponent will be Zahid Valencia, who came into high school with the reputation of 'the next big thing' and did nothing but deliver on that.
He placed at FloNationals as an 8th grader and had a sensational Freshman campaign where he won Ironman, State, FloNationals, and Fargo in succession.
In 2013 he was a Cadet Triple Crown winner and this year he'll attempt to become only the second wrestler in the prestigious history of the Ironman tournament to win four titles. The other? David Taylor.
Adding intrigue to the bout will be Zahid's massive weight gain - up 50lbs from where he comepeted last year. But every time Zahid has moved up - from 103 to 120 to 132 - he just keeps on rolling.
But 50lbs? He can't stay with a talent as electric as Myles Martin when moving up that much, can he?
We'll find out on October 18th at Who's #1
