World Champion Vito Arujau Will Not Wrestle At The 2024 Olympic Trials

2023 World champion Vito Arujau announced on Friday that he would not compete at the upcoming 2024 Olympic Wrestling Trials. Arujau took to social media to make his announcement:

Arujau had a breakout season in 2023 winning his first NCAA title with victories over Daton Fix and two-time NCAA champion Roman Bravo-Young. Arujau then made his first senior world team at 61 kg and dominantly won a gold medal at the 2023 world championships. Arujau won another NCAA title this past season at 133 pounds but notably missed several matched throughout the year due to an undisclosed injury. That injury, combined with a weight cut down to 57 kg (8 pounds below his college weight), will hinder Arujau from competing at the Olympic Trials next weekend.
