Japan Wins Team Title, USA Finishes 4th

After the conclusion of U23 Worlds, Japan showed once again why they are the dominating force in women's wrestling. Japan won the team title with 159 total points - 13 points ahead of 2nd place Ukraine. In total, Japan won 6 medals - 5 golds and 1 silver. Team USA had a solid performance coming in 4th place and finished with 3 total medals - 1 gold and 2 silver.

In the above table, you'll notice Russia and Belarus listed as "AIN" which means "Individual Neutral Athlete". These athletes cannot earn team points, however, it's still interesting to keep track of and helps in organizing points for every weight. You'll also notice India is labeled as "UWW". The Indian federation is banned from competing but their athletes are still considered a team under United World Wrestling. Team points are calculated according to UWW’s top 10 placement points for world championship team scoring: 25, 20, 15, 15, 10, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2.
