Zahid Valencia Wins Gold In Turkey

After winning the UWW Junior National tournament with a convincing win over Myles Martin in Las Vegas, Zahid Valencia collected another title at the Mithat Bayrak and Ismet Atli Junior International in Turkey.  En route to his 84kg championship, Valencia, who was competing in his first international tournament, recorded three straight technical fall shutouts before he capped things off with a 2-2 win over Russian Zharuel Shapiev in the final.    Zahid takes gold in men’s freestyle at the respected Mithat Bayrak and Ism...

NHSCA National Duals Final Results

Young Guns Black completed its second straight NHSCA National Duals Championship run with a win over a very powerful NY Kong team. The dual meet came down to an overtime match between Jake Beistel and Edwin Rubio. Beistel was able to gain the final escape to secure the win and give Jody Strittmatter his second consecutive title. Seven Freestyle Wild Cards Issued For U.S. World Team Trials

USA Wrestling has combed through the list of wrestlers who went through the application process that met the criteria to be included in the World Team Trials and have issued seven wild card spots. Among the wild card selections are former World Team Members Angel Escobedo and Jimmy Kennedy. Escobedo was fifth at the World Championships in 2013 and placed eighth at this year's U.S. Open. Kennedy did not compete at the Open, but the 2014 World Team Member will be Madison, Wisconsin competing for another spot on the team at 65kg. .post-content img...
