NHSCA Duals Day 3 Recap: Kong Is King
The 2017 NHSCA National Duals concluded in thrilling fashion. Team Kong United beat Young Guns Black by a single point. Check out the full recap and the finals bout sheet.
Spectators at the 2017 NHSCA National Duals will be forgiven if they felt a sense of deja vu in the Virginia Beach Convention Center this Memorial Day. For the second year in a row Team Kong United edged out Young Guns Black by a single point for the championship.
You can see the final score sheet of the individual matches below.
Kong's final team score was, in fact, 25. You can ignore the circled 26.
There were several pivotal matches that helped tip the scales ever so slightly in Kong's favor, despite a heroic effort by the Young Guns, who were making their sixth consecutive finals appearance at the NHSCA Duals.
120 pound Super 32 Champ Adam Busiello's pin of Colton Camacho negated the forfeit Team Kong gave up at 126 pounds. Zach Ancewicz's victory over Timmy Wallace was a toss up that Kong needed to win, and did. Lastly, Sammy Evans came up with the clutch victory at heavyweight to put his team over the top to ensure back-to-back championships for Head Coaches Anthony Ciolino and Nick Garone.
