55kg Junior FS Preview: Fix vs. Teasdale Rematch Looms
The 55kg Junior Freestyle brackets at the 2017 U.S. Open will feature a great deal of competition.
Although we've got some highly anticipated matchups on the senior level, the junior level at the U.S Open is not to be overlooked in Las Vegas this week. Specifically, 55kg is shaping up to be incredible.
As we glance at the registration, the two biggest names that stick out are No. 1 Daton Fix and No. 2 Gavin Teasdale. They met last year at the U.S. Open Championships, where Fix was able to overcome Teasdale's deadly head pinch to get the win.
Among these two are some well-credentialed guys who will look to get in the way of a Teasdale versus Fix rematch in this year's finals.
Watch Teasdale and Fix battle it out in this past year's Open finals.
Notables:
Alex Thomsen (Swift, IA)
No. 13 Andrew Alirez (TNWC)
No. 11 Brandon Courtney (Sunkist Kids)
Brock Bergelin (FLWC)
Danny Vega (TMWC)
Devin Schroder (Boilermaker RTC)
Devin Schnupp (NLWC)
No. 17 Drew Mattin (Burnett Training Wrestling)
No. 7 Dylan D'Emilio (Burnett Training Wrestling)
Gage Curry (DCAC)
Louie Hayes (Cavalier Wrestling Club)
Mike Madara (Blairstown Wrestling Club)
Michael Colaiocco (Blairstown Wrestling Club)
Tommy Cox (Wolfpack Wrestling Club)
Paul Bianchi (Bison Wrestling Club)
Certainly, Fix and Teasdale are the favorites to make the finals again this year, but with a field of guys with resumes a mile long, things are going to be very competitive.
