Russian world champions Magomed Kurbanaliev and Khasan Badrudinov capped their recent trip to New York City by rolling around at the newly christened NYC Regional Training Center on Sunday.


"Kurby" Kurbanaliev, who won the 2016 freestyle title at 70kg, and "The Bad Rude Dude" Badrudinov, the junior freestyle champion at 50kg in 2014, were in town thanks to an invite from the RTC's coach, Valentin Kalika.


Kurbanaliev and Badrudinov got to practice with Rio Olympic champion Helen Maroulis, who wrote on Instagram that it was "Great to have these guys here helping us prepare for World Team Trials!"

Kurbanaliev and Badrudinov also got to hang out with NBA star Rajon Rondo, because why wouldn't they? 


Instagram and Google Translate were unable to shed any more light on this incredibly random occurrence. 

This is not Kurbanaliev's first trip from his native Dagestan to the United States. Kurbanaliev has competed in several events held on U.S. soil and trained with the Oklahoma State team back in October 2016 alongside fellow Dagestani Akhmed Gadzhimagomedov. 

Badrudinov, also of Dagestani origin, has been to America before as well. He was in New York City this past November for the Bill Farrell Tournament. You can watch Badrudinov wrestle former Penn State standout and NCAA champion Nico Megaludis in the finals in the video below.
