Austin Gomez Wants Release From Iowa State

Class of 2017 recruit Austin Gomez has announced via Twitter that the news of Jackson's departure has brought about a change of heart and he has asked to be released of his letter of intent to attend Iowa State next season.

Earlier on Tuesday, Iowa State announced that Cyclones head coach Kevin Jackson would be stepping down after this season. And now, just a few hours later, Class of 2017 recruit Austin Gomez has announced via Twitter that the news of Jackson's departure has brought about a change of heart, and he has asked to be released of his letter of intent to attend Iowa State next season. 

Gomez, who is currently ranked fifth at 138 pounds and is the 14th-ranked recruit in the country on the Class of 2017 Big Board, will be reentering the recruiting process.

UPDATE: In light of the latest news of Jackson stepping down after this season, Pat Downey's Twitter fingers have given us another nugget to ponder as the Iowa State 184-pounder tweeted the following: 
Along with the news about Jackson came an announcement from Gomez, who took to Twitter as well stating that he has asked Iowa State for a release. Downey replied with a tweet of agreement: 

Could all of this mean that Downey is on the move after this season as well?
