1st Period: And we're off! Heavy hands from Gilman right off the whistle. And a takedown on the edge means Iowa draws first blood. Gilman tries to ride Piccininni out but Nick escapes in short time to bring the score to 2-1, Gilman with the lead.

2nd Period: Gilman starts on top and is riding tough. Piccininni tries to sit out and gets sucked back by Gilman. A mat return near the out of bounds and riding time up over a minute now for Gilman. Caution #2 for Gilman, still on top with a minute left. Now Piccininni is out to tie the score on a stand up. Gilman snatches a single and is moving Piccininni around the mat before converting with 25 seconds left. Riding time up to 1:48 as the 2nd period ends, Gilman up 4-2.

3rd Period: Piccininni on top. Gilman stands but Piccininni drops to a double and takes them both out of bounds. Only 8 seconds off the clock. Another stand up and Gilman is out, riding time stopped at 1:38. Piccininni now with a single leg, and picking Gilman up over his head! Gilman with a whizzer and somehow fights it out. Now a spin behind and 2 more for the Hawkeye. An escape and another takedown follows. Bonus points within grasp with RT locked up. 30 seconds to go. Stalemate with 13 seconds left. Piccininni needed that restart. Final stand up attempt is unsuccessful. Gilman gets the major decision, 12-4!

133: Cory Clark, Iowa vs Kaid Brock OK State
1st Period: Both wrestlers step on the mat with undefeated records this year. Clark has his left shoulder in a brace. He's been out of action since the beginning of the season. A couple shots by Brock but Clark fends them off with sprawls and headlocks that resulted in stalemates. BIG scramble a minute and a half into the period. Both wrestlers had a shot but they'll restart with 57 seconds to go. Clark now with a head inside single. Brock defends well. Clark shelfs the leg up high but Brock dives under and gets the leg. Then rolls through to get the 2 as time expires! 2-0 Brock.

2nd Period: Clark starts on top. Brock sits out on the whistle and escapes and then right into another takedown to run the score to 5-0! Time is called as the Iowa coaches want the last takedown reviewed.

The camera pans out and shows a pretty full Gallagher-Iba Arena. Lower bowl is packed.

And the call stands. 5-0 Cowboys, Brock restarts on top with 1:35 to go. And Clark is right out and gets 2 of his own. Score now 5-3 after a flurry of action. Things slow down as Clark his chewing up time on top. Riding time up to 45 seconds with 35 to go in the 2nd. A restart and Brock is out. Period ends 6-3 OK State.

3rd Period: Clark is out in a few seconds. A low single by Brock is stuffed. 46 seconds of RT for Clark. 1:34 left in the match, 6-4 Brock. Clark trying to score with a front head lock. Clark manages to spin behind but Brock was already up in his feet. They scramble out of bounds and no takedown is awarded. Another headlock and now he does spin around. It's tied at 6 with 25 seconds. But Brock escapes with 10 left and he wins 7-6!

Clark was 1 second away from a riding time point that would have tied the score. Or at least that's the theory right now, the refs are reviewing it. Nothing final yet.

NOW it's final. Brock with the upset of #1 ranked Cory Clark.

3rd period: Heil on bottom. A reversal, (according to CP it was a roll through tilt?) and he's got Carton and trouble. 1 hand on Carton's head and the other with a turk. No back points though. And Carton escapes, and it's 6-3 Heil with a minute left. Carton shoots and is working to convert, and gets it with only 12 seconds left, but he needs more. He lets Heil up but that's how it ends, 8-5 with a RT point for Heil.

3rd Period:
It's Collica's turn to start on bottom and he's also out in 8 seconds. They're back to their feet, score knotted up. 1 minute to go in the match. From a team perspective, Iowa really needs Sorensen to win this. He'll have to do it in overtime, the 3rd ends 1-1.

165: Skyler St. John, Iowa vs Chandler Rogers, OK State
1st Period: Looks like Gunther is going to sit this one out as Skylar St. John is on the mat. I'll be calling him Skylar because it is easier to type than St. John.

Rogers goes underneath with an arm and dumps Skylar for 2, almost getting backs. Rogers rides for a minute and almost locks in a cradle but it's not a tight enough grip and Skylar is out for 1. Rogers gets right back in with a body lock and 2 more. 4-1 OK State. Now rogers locks in some sort of reverse headlock. A sasson? I don't know, that's what CP called it. Rogers inches Skylar closer to his back, and now back points are being awarded. And there's the pin! Huge team points for Oklahoma State.

1st Period: Two more top 5 opponents. Boyd goes right in and grabs a single leg after the whistle. Brooks sprawls, trying to contend with Boyd's length. And the ref has to warn Boyd as his head snap was more like a right cross. Boyd is back in on a deep shot but Brooks sprawls again and tries to spin behind with an arm drag. They wrestle out of it and it's all zeros with a minute left. Brooks get's his first leg and Boyd goes over the top, locking up a leg and we get a stalemate. Another low single from Brooks and they're back in a scramble. And another stalemate with 12 seconds left. Period ends 0-0.

197: Cashe Wilcke, Iowa vs Preston Weigel, OK State
1st Period: Pressure is on Wilcke as Weigel is the heavy favorite and will put the match away with a win.

A slow methodical 1st period plods along. Not a lot of shots or even hand fighting. It's 0-0.

2nd Period: Weigel escapes in 5 seconds. They're back on their feet and now in collar ties. Bader and CP on Weigel's strategy: he's comfortable needing to ride out Wilcke in the 3rd. Weigel will head to the final period with a 1-0 lead.

3rd Period: Weigel in control as riding time climbs up. The savvy crowd cheers Weigel as the clock crosses the 1 minute threshold. RT nearly locked up and Weigel gets a tilt and 4 insurance points. With the RT it'll be a 6-0 win, and the Oklahoma State Cowboys win the dual!

Final match of the day starts and Schafer takes a half shot and backs up. They're working on the edge of the mat and Schafer gets both of Stoll's ankles for 2. Stoll escapes and it's 2-1. Another shot by Schafer and now he's got all of Stoll's hips and pounds bearing down on his head. He mercifully gets a stalemate. Stoll marches Schafer too the edge and off the mat and earns a stall warning for Schafer shortly before the period ends.

2nd Period: Stoll starts on top and runs Schafer out of bounds, almost destroying a group of photographers. This happens a second time before Schafer is able to turn and face Stoll in time to get the escape. The same tactic is used on their feet and Schafer picks up his 2nd stall call conceding a point in the process. Stoll induces another step out stall right before the buzzer and it's 3-3 going into the 3rd.

3rd Period:
Stoll is up and out to take the lead. Schafer down on a single leg and now it's Stoll finding safety out of bounds. No stall but a restart. 80 seconds left. 30 seconds left and Schafer dives in for a double, somehow picks up both legs and drives forward for two! He needs to ride out for the win. And he does! Schafer wins 6-5.

Refs need to clean up a scoring snafu but it's official now. Mark it down and put it in the books. The Okie State alma mater plays in Gallagher-Iba to the delight of the crowd.
