VAC Holiday Duals Overview
The 2016 VAC Holiday Duals are upon us. The 16th Annual VAC Holiday Duals will begin this Friday as 60 middle school and 60 elementary teams will compete in the toughest dual meet event of the season.

Watch all of the action live HERE on FloWrestling this weekend.

“This year we are bigger and better than ever,” said Executive Director Frank Lipoli. “We have expanded the field from 48 middle school and elementary teams to 60 in each field - it’s going to be an amazing event.”

The VAC Duals is regarded as one of the toughest dual meet tournaments in the country and with good reason. It’s an event that features a number of hand-selected all-star teams from states as far away as California, Colorado, South Dakota, Michigan, Texas, Utah and Wisconsin.

Known as the “Mecca of Youth Wrestling,” these all-star teams will travel to the Virginia Beach Convention Center for their chance to contend for a National Championship. Over the past several years the event has gained popularity within the youth wrestling community which is evident in the fact that the field has expanded from 32 teams a few years ago to now 60 teams.

Lipoli says, “The main objective of this event is to bring together the best age group wrestling in the country to wrestle in 10 dual meets against some of the best competition in the country. The
VAC National Holiday Duals is a measuring stick to success. The elite wrestler is challenged in every match and it is not uncommon to see wrestlers that dominate on the national scene not place in the VAC Holiday Duals.

“We are excited about the fact that we were able to expand the field this year as it’ll give more wrestlers the opportunity to compete against some of the best competition in the country.”

Looking to defend their VAC Holiday Duals National Championship from a season ago will be Team Pennsylvania Gold. They took home the title last year when they beat rival Scorpions Gold in the title match 30-28. Leading the way for PA Gold will be 2x Super 32 Champion Ryan Crookham, Super 32 runner-up Brock McMillen, 5x PJW Champion Alejandro H-Rondon, and three-time PJW Champion Conner Redinger.

“These amazing wrestlers are stepping out of their comfort zone to challenge themselves,” says Lipoli. “They are leaving their egos at home to climb the ladder of excellence and as they saying goes, to be the best you much wrestle the best.”

Will Pennsylvania Gold be able to defend their 2015 National Championship or will a new champion be crowned?
