#2 Shane Griffith Verbals To Stanford
Shane Griffith has verbally committed to wrestle for Stanford University
Shane Griffith has verbally committed to wrestle for Stanford. The No. 2 ranked 160 pounder in the country announced his intention on social media.
Griffith is the seventh ranked junior on the class of 2018 Big Board. He enters this season having already won two New Jersey state titles for Bergen Catholic.
The future Cardinal projects as a 165/174 in college, having put on some weight after winning Super 32 and Beast of the East at 138 last year. It is not the first time head coach Jason Borrelli has tapped a top notch recruit from New Jersey, as the Cardinal have All American Joey McKenna on their roster. There are four other Blair Academy wrestlers who currently wrestle for Stanford.
Griffith is the highest ranked junior from New Jersey and is Stanford's first major commitment from the current group of juniors. Coach Borrelli and his staff signed five in the early period from the class of 2016, none in Griffith's weight range. Currently around his weight they have sophomore Paul Fox and junior Keaton Subjeck.
