No. 1 Jacob Warner Commits
Top-ranked 195-pound wrestler Jacob Warner makes his college verbal commitment.
From Illinois to Iowa.
During a commitment ceremony at his high school, two-time Illinois state champion Jacob Warner announced that he will be continuing his wrestling career at the University of Iowa.
Warner is currently the No. 1-ranked 195-pound wrestler in the country and occupies the No. 8 spot on the Class of 2017 Big Board. This summer, Warner won a bronze medal at the Cadet World Championships in Tbilisi, Georgia, and will now look to add to his already impressive resume, which features a career record of 137-10. Warner projects as a 197 for his career. This weight is a need for the Hawkeyes in the wake of two-time All-American Nathan Burak's graduation.
The class of 2017 is shaping up to be a dandy for the Hawkeyes, who have already earned commitments from pound-for-pound No. 1 Spencer Lee, No. 7 Max Murin, No. 12 Aaron Costello, No. 17 Myles Wilson, No. 14 Luke Troy, and Justin Stickley.
Warner chose Iowa over Minnesota, Ohio State, Purdue, and Arizona State.
