Jordan Burroughs Loses To Aniuar Geduev

In a bizarre match with dozens of stoppages, Jordan Burroughs went down.  It was known from the get go that Aniuar Geduev was the biggest threat to Olympic Champion Burroughs.  The match began with early theatrics with blows exchanged early between the two.  The match saw multiple stoppages for finger clasping, hands to the face and Jordan Burroughs' bleeding head.

Geduev struck first with a shot clock point.  That was the only point in the first.  Geduev threatened with his front headlock multiple times, and held strong positioning.  Burroughs fired off several shots but struggled to get angles.

In the 2nd, Geduev scored a step out as Jordan was warned for passivity to make it 2-0.  A takedown for Burroughs still would have put him in the lead.  The two exchanged leg attacks and Geduev managed a step out to extend his lead 3-0.  Geduev conceded a late takedown as time expired to take the match 3-2.

Jordan nearly was not pulled back when Hasanov was up 4-0 early against Geduev.  A visibly exhausted Geduev hit a 4 point double in the 2nd to take the victory from Hasanov.

Mike Malinconico breaks down why he believes Jordan couldn't get to his signature double leg.

Burroughs will take on Bekzod Abdurakhmanov first, then take on Hasanov for Bronze should he down Bekzod.  He will be favored to win both of these bouts.  Dan Dennis was eliminated when Dubov fell in the semi's.

Jordan will take the mat at approximately 2:00PM CT this afternoon.  Check in here for live updates and mat assignments.
