Repechage And Medal Matches:

Olympic Champ Soryan taking on KAZ Kepispayev.  Soryan gets put down, ends up body-locking Kepispayev to his back!  Then 2 more!  6-0 Soryan!  1st period ends.  Only 1 match for repechage and medal matches, by the way.  Soryan gives up 4, then 2 then is pinned!!!! Kepispayev down 7-0 and wins.  

Next up at 59kg we have Wang against Eraliev, winner will get Tasmaradov.  Still scoreless. In the 2nd, it's 4-1 Eraliev. Eraliev wins 4-2.  

Now Kepispayev will take on Berge, winner heads to the Bronze match against Bayramov. Scoreless so far. Berge now up 1-0 in the 2nd. Now a 2-0 lead with 45 to go. Match over and Berge will take on Bayramov?

Now up at 75kg we have Olympic Champion Woo taking on China's Wang. Woo up 2-1 early.  Wang put down in the 2nd.  No turn. 3-1 final for Woo.  He'll wrestle Bozo for Bronze. 

Abdvali taking on Nemes in repechage.  Winner gets Bacsi.  Scoreless 20 seconds in. Nemes now up 2-0.  2 minutes in. 2nd period underway and the score is still 2-0 Abdvali. Takedown for Abdvali and he leads 2-2!  90 to go. Abdvali wins.  Bacsi awaits. 

59kg Bronze Medal Match: 59kg Tasmuradov vs Eraliev
Tasmuradov up 3-0 already (commercial through first 90 seconds of match).  5-0 now, Tasmuradov appearing dominant.  Eraliev with a SICK 2 then 4  to take the 6-5 lead!  Unreal! Now Tasmuradov comes back and he leads 10-6!  What a match.  Now a takedown for Eraliev and it's 10-8.  13-8 after a step over by Tasmuradov.  That's the final.  Tasmuradov takes Bronze. 

59kg Bronze Medal Match: 59kg Bayramov vs Berge
30 seconds in we're scoreless.  Bayramov is a favorite on paper.  Berge gets his chance on top, working for a headpinch.  They stand up and are back neutral.  0-0. Bayramov now on top looking for a low gut.  Back up, 2:40 into the 1st.  2nd period now under way.  1-0 Bayramov but he can't get the turn. Now it's 1-1 Berge with 40 to go.  Berge wins 1-1 and his coaches pile on him! ha.

59kg Gold Medal Match: Ota, Japan vs Borrero, Cuba
Scoreless one minute in as Borrero went vicious with a 2 on 1, but no points.  1:45 in and Borrero goes 2 on 1 some more.  Ota gets put down, Borrero is so dangerous here.  6-0 Borrero after two turns!  2nd period now underway.  Takedown for Borrero! 8-0 for the Olympic title!

75kg Bronze Medal Match: Woo, Korea vs Bozo, Croatia
Underway here, Woo went elbow control duck but couldn't score. Woo on top and gets a gut for 2-0. Now Bozo gets on top and gets two guts for a 4-2 lead!  That'll do it for the 1st.  Now Woo strikes with a duck and then a correct throw to take a 6-4 lead. 30 to go! Woo takes it 6-4.

75kg Bronze Medal Match: Bacsi, Hungary vs Abdvalli, Iran
Insane start!  Abdvali bull rushes him for a takedown, Bacsi didn't seem ready.  Then Abdvalli bull rushes again for a step out.  3-0 Abdvali.  Now 2 for Bacsi for a correct throw.  Multiple slips bailing out Bacsi. 2nd period now underway.  Abdvali has been incredibly aggressive. Step out point for Abdvali and it's 4-2. 1 more point for Abdvalli as Bacsi gets put down for passivity.  5-2 with 30 left. Abdvali wins 5-2 in a bizarre match.  

75kg Gold Medal Match: Vlasov, Russia vs Madsen, Denmark
Underway now, battling in the center.  Madsen hit for passivity already. Madsen hit again.  Vlasov getting put down.  4 for Vlasov, the champ leads 4-0 2 minutes in. 1st period ends. Now underway in the 2nd.  Vlasov gets put down. He grabs hands and gets up.  Madsen's challenge is no good.  5-0 Vlasov.  40 to go. 5-1 now, and they gave Madsen 10 seconds on top and put him up! Vlasov wins 5-1. 




SESSION 1 NOTES:

Today's the day!  2016 Olympic wrestling starts at 8 AM EST with Andy Bisek (75kg) and Jesse Thielke (59kg) taking the mat for Team USA.  Jesse's first match will be against Morocco's El Mahadi Messaoudi.  Andy Bisek will be up against Yurisandy Hernandez Rios of Cuba. 

Prelims: Looking on FloArena's upcoming bouts World Champion Boerero of Cuba is in the hole on mat C.  Jesse Thielke will be the 5th match on Mat A. 

Right now, we've got Soryan v Ota on Mat B, Soryan is an Olympic Champ, Ota beat Soryan this year at the Asian qualifier.  Kepispayev is taking on Labazanov of Russia on Mat A.  Soryan looking to pull 2 on 1 against Ota, who is made of 44% tape currently.  Ota warned for passivity.  Labazanov jumps the start and gets hit for a caution and 2!  Soryan guts Ota right side after OTA gets put down! 2-0 Soryan. Soryan up 4-0, Kepispayev up 4-0 over Labazanov. Labazanov gets his chance on top but doesn't get a turn.  Takedown for Ota makes it 4-2 for Soryan.  

Now 4-3 after a caution and 1 for Ota, 20 to go! Caution and 2 and now it's 5-4 Ota! Soryan dejected. Ota wins! Down goes the Olympic Champ!  Kepispayev wins over Labazanov as well.

Now at 75kg World Champ Julfalakyan is up 2-0 on mat a.  World Champ Peter Bacsi now up on mat B at 75kg.  Alexanderov takes the 2-2 lead over Julfalakyan after a strong correct throw.  Bacsi wins 8-0.  Murtzaliev up 2-1 over Sebie.

59kg World Champ Molina of Cuba is up on B .  If Thielke wins this is who he'll win.  Julfalakyan is losing to Bulgaria's Alexanderov with 30 to go! Alexanderov wins! 

Molina gets the turn early and is up 2-0.  Kartikov of Kazakhstan up against Georgia's Datunishvili.  Kartikov takes a 2-0 lead towards the end of the 1st. Molina up 6-0 after a leg foul.  KGZ commits another leg foul but it isn't called.  Kartikov put down in the 2nd.  No points.

Thielke in the hole on mat A!  His likely next opponent Bayramov is up on mat C. Molina moves on.  Kartikov still up 2-0.  Bayramov scoreless a minute in.  He looks for a drag but can't get it.  Takedown Bayramov and now he's got  him up in the air for 2 more.  4-0 lead for Bayramov.  Sick headlock for Bayramov and it's 8-0!  Match over. 

Tasmuradov with a beautiful 4!  He's a darkhorse to win 59kg.  Kepispayev has his singlet on backwards as he comes to the mat for the second time against Japan's Ota. Ota put down against Kepispayev. Kepispayev gives up a reversal while working for a reverse lift.  Ota about to knock of Kepispayev, up 6-0.

Thielke now on deck! Can you feel the honey badger fury coming!? Bisek on deck on C!

HERE COMES JESSE!  Underway and Jesse's shoes are off the hook!.  Theilke going to work on his feet.   El Mahadi Messaoudi working for a 2 on 1 against Thielke. Thielke warned for passivity. Now a warning against Messaoudi. Bisek wrestling now on mat c.  Messauodi goes under. 2 guts for Thielke now 3 and 4!

Thielke wins 8-0 in the first! 

Andy Bisek is up on mat C!  Rios put down, Bisek getting a chance on top! Bisek covers. Bisek works for a gut and doesn't get it,  2 was offered for Molina, thankfully and correctly not upheld.  Scoreless after 1. Rios getting put down again.  1-0 Bisek. Rios crawls straight out of bounds, but no flee is called. 1-0 Bisek with 90 to go. Bisek put down, defending underneath. No turn, back on their feet.  1-0 Bisek with 20 to go.   Bisek holds on 1-0 and wins. 

2 Olympic champs on the mat with Vlasov and Woo wrestling each other.  Woo up 2-0 on Vlasov! 4-2 Vlasov after a big 4. Now 6-3 Vlasov. Woo gets a throw late but it's called 2 not 4! VERY CLOSE.  Vlasov exhausted but moves on. 

Thielke will be up in 4 on mat A.  No word yet on Bisek, but he'll be on Mat B. All wrestling on Mat A and B for right now.

Cebi down 1-0, then accuses opponent (Bozo) of biting him, ha. Bozo gets put down.  Now caution and 1 for Bozo and he's beating Cebi! BOZO wins! Bisek will get Bozo, not Cebi like we originally thought. 

Abdvali and Madsen wrestling and it's 1-1 Madsen and he's on top.  No turn, 34 to go.   Madsen wins, I think Abdvalli thought he was winning, for some reason.

Mursaliev and Kartikov tied at zero.  Bacsi and Alexanderov also tied at zero.  Bacsi now up 6-0 after a 4 pointer and a caution and 2.  Mursaliyev up 4-1 now. 

World Champ Borrero comes out against Wang of China on A.  Thielke on deck on A.  Bisek in the hole on B. Tasmuradov and Yun up on Mat B. Tasmaradov up 6-0! After challenge it's 9-0 Tasmaradov, match over. 

On Mat B Berge takes on Ota. Wang gets put down against Borrero.  Easy gut for Borrero,  then a 4, then a 2! Tech for Borrero! 

Jesse Thielke coming to the mat now!   1 minute in no score and no passives between Thielke and Bayramov. Each have a passive warning.  Thielke moving him all around.  Thielke put down. Gives up 2, now lifting again, it's 6-0.  Challenge by Lindland that Bayramov was below butt on last turn.The challenge turned it from a 2 into a 4 and Thielke is teched. 9-0.  

Ota up 4-0 against Berge. Vlasov up on mat A against Yang of China. If Bisek wins, he'll take on winner of this bout.

Bisek now up on Mat B! LETS GOOOOOOO.

Underway: Bisek v. Bozo.  Bozo warned already.  Bisek controlling everything so far.  Bozo warned for passivity. 45 in. Bozo hit for passivity again and is going down!  Can't get the turn and they're back up on their feet.  1:40 in, still scoreless. 2 on 1 for Bozo.  Bisek nearly scores but can't on the edge.  15 to go.  1st period ends. ALL Bisek, just no points.  2nd period underway.  Underhook for Bisek, cleared by Bozo.  Bisek put down.  Bisek gets turned, down 2-0.  Bozo completely blocking off.  2 on 1 for Bozo, 30 to go, not looking good. Bisek falls 2-0.

Bozo will need to beat Olympic champ Vlasov (who won 8-0) to pull Andy back in.  Bayramov will have to beat Ota to pull Jesse back in.

Peter Bacsi up against Mursaliev. Madsen taking on Nemes on Mat A. Bacsi up 3-0.  Madsen looked to have a 4 but they don't give it to him.  Bacsi up 5-0 now. Madsen and Nemes still locked at 0 in the 2nd.  Madsen now up 1-0 and has a chance on top.  Now it's 3-0 Madsen. Somehow. Madsen a 4-0 winner.  Bacsi wins 5-0.  

Olympic Semi's time!

Bayramov v Ota on B!  Tasmaradov v Molina on B!  USA needs Bayramov to beat Ota to pull Jesse in.

Scoreless between Tasmaradov and Molina.  Ota and Bayramov scoreless as well. Molina looked for two arm spins and gets put down.  No turn for Tasmaradov.  Still scoreless 90 seconds in for Bayramov and Ota. Bayramov put down but gets out and they're neutral again.  Bayramov gets two, then gets put to his back and pinned by Ota!! Ota into the Olympic finals! Thielke eliminated. 

Molina up 4-0, now 4-1.  Good par terre d by Molina. 90 to go. Molina put down again. Just kidding, Tasmaradov wants to go neutral.  4-1 final and Borrero is in the finals! 

59kg Final: Ismael Borrero Molina, Cuba vs Shinobu Ota, Japan. 

Vlasov vs Bozo on Mat A.  Madsen vs Bacsi on B!  We need Bozo to down Vlasov to pull Andy back in.  

Scoreless early between Vlasov and Bozo.  Same story for Bacsi and Madsen. Bozo put down, this is where Vlasov is dangerous. 2 for Vlasov, then another turn makes it 4-0 Vlasov.  Madsen on top of Bacsi, nearly gets two but can't.  1st period comes to an end in Madsen/Bacsi scoreless. Vlasov getting his head wrapped.   Vlasov getting more turns and Bozo puts him on his back and is pinned!  They don't call it!  Say he was unconscious. 6-2 Vlasov.    Madsen up 1-0.  Madsen into the Olympic finals!  Will await winner of Vlasov and Bozo. Vlasov wins 6-3, controversial match.
