Mark Cody Resigns At Oklahoma
An absolute shocker heading into the 2016-2017 season.  Mark Cody has stepped down at Oklahoma.  The team was recently informed of the decision.  The administration was reportedly non-committal towards retaining Assistants Michael Lightner and Kendric Maple.

Cody built an incredible resumè at American University taking the lesser known program into the top 10 in division 1.  Excitement was huge around Cody taking the job 5 years ago in Norman, but the results and recruiting have not measured up.

Oklahoma was 13th last year, 18th in 2015 and finished 10th in 2014.  In 2014 they were on a short list of title contenders with Andrew Howe, Cody Brewer, Travis Rutt, Jarod Patterson, Kendric Maple and more on the squad.

On the recruiting front, Cody has struggled to land many elite wrestlers from Oklahoma or nationally.

The last four years, Mark Cody's recruiting classes have been Unranked, #12, #11 and #19.

The expectations at OU are sky high, and many highly qualified candidates are expected to apply.

Here's one of the bright spots in Cody's OU career, Brewers otherworldly run to NCAA gold in 2015.
