Brock Lesnar Fails Second, In-Competition Test for Banned Substance

The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) informed the UFC that heavyweight Brock Lesnar has been flagged for his second potential anti-doping violation, this time stemming from an in-competition collection July 9 ahead UFC 200.

Lesnar was previously informed of his initial violation July 14 following a out-of-competition drug test on June 28.

There is currently no word yet on the substance Lesnar tested positive for.

UFC officials released the following statement regarding the situation:

"The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has informed Brock Lesnar that his in-competition sample collection from July 9, 2016, at UFC 200, has tested positive for the same substance as his previously announced out-of-competition collection on June 28, 2016," the statement read.

"USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case," it continued. "It is important to note that, under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full fair legal review process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed. The Nevada State Athletic Commission also retains jurisdiction over this matter as the sample collection was performed at UFC 200 in Las Vegas.

"Consistent with all previous potential anti-doping violations, additional information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward."

Lesnar (6-3) was last seen walking away with a unanimous decision win over Mark Hunt at UFC 200. This victory marked Lesnar's first appearance inside a UFC Octagon since he initially announced his retirement in 2011.

Prior to his most recent bout, Lesnar became the first retired athlete to receive an exemption from UFC in order skip a mandatory four-month drug testing window, which is required before stepping back into the Octagon.

Lesnar is currently scheduled to resume his WWE career and face Randy Orton at SummerSlam in August.
