FloWrestler of the Week: Roman Bravo-Young
nullRoman Bravo-Young had a certain focus at the Cadet National Championships. And it was that laser focus that earned him the spot on the Cadet World Team.

The four-time Fargo champ dominated everyone on the way to winning the 54kg spot. No one even came close to being able to handle the amount of pressure he put on them. His takedowns were slick, his turns were strong and his defense held his opponents to next to nothing.

His most impressive wins came in the quarters, semifinals and finals where he tech falled highly touted 8th-grader Joshua Saunders, fellow Fargo Champs Nick Raimo and Jordan Decatur, in that order. Bravo-Young’s performance in the finals where he won two matches in the best-of-three series over Decatur is what won him the spot, but he had to employ each one of his high-level techniques to get the job done. And that’s exactly what he did.

It was an impressive performance by Roman Bravo-Young to make his first World Team and he is completely deserving of the FloWrestler of the Week award.

Other FloWrestler of the Week Nominees:

Zane Richards: After losing match 1 to Tyler Graff, Richards battled tough to win the second match on criteria to force match three where he gutted out a second win to claim the 61kg spot on the University World Team.

Vito Arujau: He was tactical, he was dominant, he was everything he needed to be to make the Cadet World Team at 58kg. He defeated fellow Fargo champ Sammy Sasso in the finals 2 matches to none.

Isaiah Martinez: Just when we thought we couldn’t be more impressed by the two-time NCAA Champ, he goes and puts on another show against Chance Marsteller. IMar and Chance went back-and-forth until the end where it was Martinez’s “caveman” mentality that got the job done.

Morgan McIntosh: First off, McIntosh down at 86kg with a beard is one seriously dangerous human. He had one of the fastest tech. falls of the tournament in the semis over Jach Dechow, 11-0. Then he finished things off with techs over Sammy Brooks of 12-2 and 11-0 in the finals.

Jacob Warner: Warner was the only guy to make both the Freestyle and Greco teams this weekend. And not only did he claim the 85kg spot on both teams, but he nearly teched his way through both tournaments. In the freestyle finals he recorded his only regular decisions of the weekend where he defeated Michael Beard 12-4 and 11-3.
