Victor Lebedev Declines Olympic Spot
Several days have passed since Victor Lebedev's run to a Russian National title in Yakutsk, Russia caused a schism between the varying factions of Russian wrestling. The controversial victories by Lebedev at 57 kg prompted significant unrest within the arena and the boycott of Russia's most distinguished wrestling region, Dagestan. In light of the controversial victories, Victor Lebedev is declining the spot for the Olympic team at 57kg.

In light of this, it appears the team for Russia is not set on the Freestyle side. The notable absence of Bilyal Makhov, who refused to compete after the controversy, at 125kg leaves a giant hole for the Russian squad. There could be additional trials or wrestle offs given to various competitors. The scope of the competition is not yet known.

Early speculation tends to suggest that Russia will send Musukaev and Rashidov to the World Cup. Whoever competes the best could be granted a wrestle off against Alexander Bogomoev, whom Lebedev defeated in the Russian Nationals finals.

Lebedev opened up about the decision in an article on http://news.ykt.ru.  Russianwrestling.com also did a piece that featured quotes from the former World Champion.
