Earlier this week it was announced that Chance Marsteller would be transferring to Lock Haven, it now appears another blue chip recruit is headed out of Oklahoma State. Ryan Blees, a Sophomore from North Dakota has verbally committed to transfer to Virginia Tech.
The Hokies are looking to fill the void left by the graduation of three-time All American Nick Brascetta. Blees, who has spent the last two seasons at Oklahoma State found himself behind True Freshman All-American Joe Smith last year. As is the case for many Oklahoma State wrestlers, making the lineup for the Cowboys was going to be very difficult. His results as a redshirt and last year as a redshirt freshman were inconsistent. He accumulated a 15-6 record and saw spot starting duties for the Cowboys.
Coming out of high school, Blees was a two time Junior Fargo champion. In both years he defeated incredibly tough fields en route to a title. His 2013 run was what propelled him to National prominence. Blees is known for having an incredible gas tank and wrestling an incredibly physical style. With Virginia Tech having Mike Zadick, Derek St. John and a number of talented partners in his weight range, it will likely be a good environment for Blees to train.
Here's a look at some of Blees' brightest moments in the Fargodome.
