Top 10 D1 Upsets Of The Week
Despite the regular season winding down we saw some big time upsets this week.  A number of unranked guys are making their moves now as they are posturing for a spot in the NCAA tournament.  Here were the top 10!

10. James Benjamin, Buffalo over #18 Shawn Scott, Northern Illinois
I won't lie, I hadn't heard of James Benjamin til this week.  Looking at him, he's probably right on the periphery of qualifying.  He's been solid and looking to punch through with a big win here over a very tough Shawn Scott.

9. #9 Daniel Lewis, Missouri over #6 Max Rohskopf, NC State
Not just a win for Lewis, he won and answered every question.  He scored from neutral against a very crafty Rohskopf.  He once again proved to be among the most dangerous top wrestlers in the country.

8. #12 Geoff Alexander, Maryland over #7 Ryan Taylor, Wisconsin
Ryan Taylor is still trying to get back in the mix here.  He is yet to regain the form he had one year ago where we saw him major Zane Richards.

7. #20 Jake Faust, Duke over #13 David McFadden, VT
Faulst had a monster weekend knocking off both McFadden and Staudenmayer this week.  His claim to fame prior was having Jim Wilson's number.  These wins solidify Jake moving forward.

6. Casey Sparkman, Kent State over #9 Luke Smith
CMU fans were probably feeling pretty confident with Ian Miller sitting against Smith, but KSU backup Casey Sparkman pulled the upset against a top 10 Smith.

5. Kyle Springer, Eastern Michigan over #14 Chris Mecate, ODU
The struggles continue for All-American Chris Mecate.  He hasn't looked the same this year apart from his win over Kevin Jack.

4. Joey Galasso, Cornell over #13 CJ Cobb, Penn
I was high on Galasso coming into this year, but so far he hasn't quite met the expectations I had.  This is by far the best win of his season.  He seems to be turning the corner at just the right time.

3. #20 Jake Faust, Duke over #10 John Staudenmayer, UNC
If you're on this list 2 times, you had a good week.  As I mentioned before.  Good things are happening at Duke and good things are happening for Jake Faust.

2. #18 Pete Renda, NC State over #9 Willie Miklus, Mizzou
It wasn't just that Renda won.  It was HOW he won.  Complete domination over an All American in Miklus who I think is excellent.

1. Nick Wanzek, Minnesota over #2 Zac Brunson, Illinois
Wanzek's move up to 174 had not been going well all year long.  I was starting to wonder about his chances at qualifying for NCAA's.  Now Wanzek out of nowhere beats Zac Brunson who has been OUTSTANDING this year.  I couldn't believe it, personally.
