The major global story this month was 75kg world champion Roman Vlasov losing a 4-4 match on criteria to fellow countryman Chingiz Labazanov in the Ivan Poddubny final. In the pivotal sequence of the match Labazanov used double-overs to defend Vlasov's lift from force par terre, and score a four point throw. Vlasov stayed at number 1, despite the loss. Labazanov, who was a world champion in 2014 at 71kg, climbed up to number 7.
