The original reports from those close to the Oklahoma State wrestling program were cautiously optimistic that Oklahoma State 133 pounder Kaid Brock would be ok after his injury at the Southern Scuffle. Brock had made the semi's against #1 Nahshon Garrett of Cornell when a mat return gone awry forced Brock to default out of the tournament. It appears it's worst case scenario for the Cowboys and Kaid Brock.
Brock's short but brilliant True Freshman campaign has come to an end. The news was released on the Stillwater News Press after Coach John Smith announced Kaid would be missing the remainder of the season.
Oklahoma State will look to a combination of Gary Wayne Harding, Kyle Garcia, Brian Crutchmer and perhaps Mike Magaldo. Magaldo was rumored to be cutting down to 133 prior to Kaid's redshirt removal against Oklahoma (Where Brock pinned NCAA Champion Cody Brewer) but at this point that is nothing more than speculation. Whoever it winds up being, will not likely be able to match Brock's point scoring ability.
Coach Smith mentioned that part of the reason they were sitting Kaid out for the season would be the option for Kaid to receive a Medical Hardship. This would grant Kaid 4 more years to compete at Oklahoma State.
