Week by week, Ohio State is getting closer to putting their optimized lineup together.
It started early when they dropped Micah Jordan down to 141 after wrestling his redshirt season at 157 and 149 a year ago. Bo Jordan, who was 3rd at 165 last year moved up to at 174 and was looking as dominant as ever.
Then things continued to evolve on December 12th when Bo Jordan debuted back down at 165 against Missouri. Fans watch Bo win a tight match over Freshman Daniel Lewis. True Freshman Myles Martin weighed in and warmed up matside in his Ohio State singlet, but the shirt was not pulled off.
Skip ahead to December 30th, Ohio State announced via Twitter that the shirt was coming off and Myles Martin would be inserted into the starting lineup at 174 pounds for the Buckeyes. Two days later Ohio State dropped the biggest ball of all when they announced Kyle Snyder would be returning to the lineup after deciding in the Spring to take an Olympic Redshirt. Snyder returns at 285 pounds and is currently ranked 2nd in the ASICS FloRankings.
Now the next and perhaps final piece of the puzzle is moving into place soon for Ohio State. Hunter Stieber, Ohio StateÂ's 2-time All American has been out all year recovering from Tommy John surgery on both elbows. Stieber dealt with the injuries last year and gutted out Big 10Â's and NCAAÂ's for the Buckeyes but was unable to win a match for Ohio State at NCAAÂ's.
We havenÂ't seen Hunter since. In April, Hunter got elbow surgery. Big Brother Logan sent a humorous tweet right after:
In July, one year after the initial injury, Hunter sent this tweet which shows his scar and pictures of him with the Pan Am team.
Fast forward to November 12th Ohio State tweeted a picture that showed Hunter and Logan drilling on the mat.
Now, according to an article in the Sandusky Register, Hunter could return for Ohio State as early as this Sunday against Michigan. This would pit Hunter against #13 Alec Pantaleo.
With Hunter missing the majority of the year, mat-time may be low for Hunter. Here are the potential opponents Hunter could face before Big 10Â's.
1/9 - Michigan - #13 Alec Pantaleo
1/17 - Nebraska #5 Jake Sueflohn
1/24 - Michigan State - Mark Bozzo
