Upsets dominated the day as PSU was victorious in Blacksburg in an action packed dual!

125 #2 Nico Megaludis, Penn State vs #5 Joey Dance, Virginia Tech
1st Period:
Underway in one of the duals signature matches.  Battling for collar ties early, head taps from Dance.  Underhook for Megaludis and it's cleared by Joey.  2:22 to go. Shot by Nico, front headlock for Dance, but Dance can't improve with Nico hanging on the elbows and it's stalemated. Dance gets to his frontheadlock once more but really never is able to threaten from there.  Megaludis continues to fire but isn't getting in deep.  Joey goes for a headlock but just misses.  Crowd goes nuts for like 3 seconds.  First period ends scoreless. 

2nd Period: Megaludis chooses bottom. Nico escapes in possibly less than a second.  1-0 Nico.  Nico working for a single, Joey looks slide by but can't get it.   Nico goes underhook to a single and is in deep.  Joey has a whizzer.  Joey kicking but Nico in decent position.  Takedown for Nico and an immediate escape for Joey makes it 3-1 Nico at the turn. 

3rd Period: Dance chooses bottom. Nico has 15 of riding time and climbing.  Joey gets to a sit out position.  Nico drops to the leg then works up.  Joey up to his feet.  Nico keeps dropping to legs but ref late to begin 5 count.  RT over a minute for Nico.  57 to go.  Reversal dance!  He has to ride out to erase RT and ensure OT! Rideout Dance!

Sudden Victory 1: Underway  in OT, fakes from Nico.  Joey looks throw by but pulls Nico into a single.  Joey gets away.  Crazy flurry.  To rideouts we go!

TB1:  Nico takes bottom.  Dance looks suck back then slips in double boots.  He's got a DEEP half but Nico is so flexiblie I'm not sure he's in danger.  RIDEOUT DANCE

TB2: Dance takes bottom. ESCAPE DANCE! Dance wins 4-3. Cassell comes UNGLUED.

133 #12 Jordan Conaway, Penn State vs Kevin Norstrem, Virginia Tech
1st Period:
Head taps early from Conaway. Norstrem keeping a hand on the mat and fires a single but misses.  Very much a feeling out process (i.e. nobody doing jack). Period ends scoreless.

2nd Period: Norstrem chooses bottom. Norstrem comes to his feet and granby's but Conaway follows well.  Caution Norstrem.  1:44 to go in the 2nd. Caution Conaway.  Conaway riding on the right side with a half.  Norstrem gets to a sit out but can't secure escape.  Gets there again, again Conaway rides.  54 to go.  Leg comes in for Conaway as he rides with a cross body.  Norstrem not stringing movement together.  Now he does and he's away.  Period ends 1-0 Norstrem but 1:47 RT for Conaway

3rd Period: Conaway takes bottom.  He gets his 2nd caution but escapes immediately making it 1-1 with 1:40 RT in Conaway's favor.  Now Conaway with a quick TD to make it 3-1 and the boot comes back in. 37 to go and RT is locked for Conaway. Norstrem can't get away and it's a 4-1 win for Jordan Conaway!

141 #1 Jimmy Gulibon, Penn State vs Solomon Chishko, Virginia Tech
1st Period:
Here we go! Very curious to see how this one unfolds.  Jimmy looking for his high crotch early but can't get in.  Shot by Chishko but Jimmy pulls him into a front headlock.  Nothing doing for either guy.  1:30 to go.  Jimmy takes Solomon to the edge, Chishko tries to circle in and Jimmy ends up on a shot on the edge.  Solomon in splits, out of bounds we go, no stall warning.   Period ends scoreless.

2nd Period: Jimmy chooses bottom. Tripod, hand control and Jimmy is away in 5 seconds.  1-0 Gulibon. Jimmy really starting to dictate pace and controlling center of the mat.  Stall warning COULD be coming soon for Chishko.  Solomon gets in deep on the single but Jimmy whizzers out of it.  Solomon warned for stalling after backing out on edge. CLEAN high crotch from Gulibon and they're rolling around.  SOMEHOW Chishko gets out of it. Period ends.

3rd Period: Chishko takes bottom. Up and out right away.  1-1 with plenty to go but Chishko is backing up again and has a warning.  Fake and snap from Gulibon but can't get in.  Shot by Chishko, stalemated.  1:07 to go. Gulibon in on the high crotch again but this time looks to finish head inside but somehow Chishko evades and scrambles out of it and now we're ankle to ankle and Chishko scores 2!  Unreal!  There's the win!  I think we'll see a challenge here from Coach Sanderson.  And we do. Stay tuned!

Refs taking a look at it.  Call upheld!? Wow, that was a wild one.  Chishko wins.

1st Period:
Zain taking ground early.  Nice single and a very quick finish.  2-0 Zain now he's in his money-making position on top. Double legs come in.  Sal nearly worked the boot out but Zain is next level at recovering from that position and he earns a stalemate with 44 to go.  2 NF on a turn for Zain and it's 4-0 after 1. 

2nd Period: Zain chooses bottom. Reversal and turn, turn, turn and there's the tech! Wowza!

157 #6 Jason Nolf, Penn State vs #3 Nick Brascetta, Virginia Tech
1st Period:
Low single immediately from Nolf. Brascetta passes the leg and it's stalemated.  Hang on tight for this one.  Brascetta tries for a high single but can't get in.  Single leg attempt from Brascetta.  Dirty ankle pick from Nolf and a quick finish makes it 2-0 Nolf with 1:15 to go. Nolf riding Brascetta very, very tough.  Workin both sides, controlling wrists.  Not easily done against someone like Brascetta but he gets the rideout!

2nd Period: Nolf chooses bottom. He escapes very quickly and extends his lead to 3-0. Underhook for Brascetta but Nolf clears.  Single by Brascetta, Nolf looks re-attack but can't get it.  Period ends

3rd Period: Brascetta chooses bottom.  Nolf riding like a mad man.  Brascetta completely flat.  Escape Brascetta.  RT locked for Nolf and it's 3-1. 4-1 final for Nolf!  That was ALL Nolf.

1st Period:
Shot right away from Rasheed.  TD right away. 2-0 Rasheed! Now he's going to work on top.  McFadden goes out of bounds and is warned for stalling from bottom.  1:38 to go.  Rasheed working a great chop/wrist series on McFadden's left side.  McFadden gets to a leg but they go out of bounds.  46 seconds to go.  McFadden really struggling to build his base.  Rideout for Rasheed.  2-0 after 1 with 2:30 of RT in Rasheeds favor. 

2nd Period: Rasheed takes bottom.  Rasheed looks to pass the leg.  Great scramble here now Rasheed gets a reversal.  4-0 and McFadden is underneath again.  Escape McFadden and it's 4-1 with 52 to go. Period ends. 

3rd Period: McFadden takes bottom.  Escape McFadden after a warning from Rasheed for not returning.  Shot by Rasheed.  McFadden calls injury time which will give Rasheed choice!  Rasheed takes bottom. Dresser gets a bench warning.  McFadden gets a caution.  Escape Rasheed and it's 5-2 Rasheed, TD McFadden of a nice single.  Escape Rasheed and it's 6-6 but RT is locked.  Escape Rasheed and it's 7-6.  TD MCFADDEN OT!

SV1: High crotch McFadden, switches to double and there's the comeback win for the True Freshman!

1st Period:
Club/underhook right away for Nickal as we're underway in what will be a dandy! Quick single and finish for Nickal and he leads 2-0 right away! Tripod by Epperly and he's away.  2-1 with 26 seconds of RT for Nickal.  2 minutes to go.  Shot by Epperly but Bo NEARLY puts him on the back for the fall but Epperly recovers whoa baby!  No score in that flurry.  Shot by Epperly but Nickal hooks under his control hand and stops him.  Period ends. 

2nd Period: Nickal chooses bottom. Nickal up to his feet right away.  Escape.  3-1 Nickal leads early in the 2nd.  Nickal locks up a pinch headlock.  Hasn't used it yet.  Throws it by for 2 more!  Nickal looks fantastic.  Leading 5-1 with 55 to go! Sit out by Epperly.  Up to his feet looking to clear hands but Nickal puts him back down.  This is a huge spot.  30 to go. OOB. Nickal riding out to the side in a spiral.  Stalemated with 11 to go in the period.  RT over a minute now but there's the rideout for Nickal!  5-1 at the turn.

3rd Period: Epperly chooses bottom.  He escapes making it 5-2 but RT at 1:47 for Bo.  Stall warning against Nickal for backing out of bounds.  Great duck attempt from Epperly but so much length to negotiate for Epperly and he can't finish.  33 to go! Epperly can't get anything going and there's ANOTHER upset in this dual making! 6-2 final!

1st Period:
Filthy ankle pick by Zavatsky.  2-0 lead for him but it's a reversal for McCutcheon right away and an escape by Zavatsky.  3-2 Zavatskys lead. McCutcheon blows it wide open with a TD and 2 NF, then 4 NF!  10-3 just like that!  Make it 14-3 with another turn!  

2nd Period: Zavatsky chooses bottom and escapes (or did MM take top, couldn't tell).  14-4 McCutcheon's lead. Shot by Zavatsky and an easy go behind for McCutcheon and it's 16-4.   Zavatsky completely flattened out underneath.  Rideout for McCutcheon.  

3rd Period: McCutcheon takes bottom.  Escape and it's 17-4.  Another shot by McCutcheon but Zavatsky defends.  RT at 1:34 for McCutcheon.   18-4 whoopin from McCutcheon!

197 #1 Morgan McIntosh, Penn State vs Jared Haught, Virginia Tech
1st Period:
McIntosh working the head early. McIntosh seals the dual win for PSU with a win here. McIntosh gets over under and takes Haught off the mat and Haught lateral drops him out of bounds.  Haught gets warned for stalling.  33 to go. Period ends scoreless.

2nd Period: McIntosh chooses bottom. He escapes in 5 seconds to make it 1-0. Textbook low single and out the backdoor gives MM the takedown.  3-0 and he's working on top. Now he goes figure 4 turn for 4 NF.  7-0 after 2!

3rd Period: Haught takes neutral.  Go behind for Haught for 2 but McIntosh escapes immediately.  8-2 with 1:11 RT for McIntosh. 9-2 final.
