The California product redshirted last year and got injured at the Scuffle causing him to be sidelined for the remainder of his Freshman season.  Nevills is among the key additions to the PSU lineup this year and was already ranked 8th in the country.

Nevills looked great in limited action a year ago.  While not the biggest heavyweight he makes up for his lack of size with crisp technique and exceptional athleticism.  Nevills took out #9 Riley Shaw and #12 Denzel Dejournette last year at the Southern Scuffle.

The injury to Nevills puts PSU in a bind beyond just the loss of his talent.  Penn State has no other heavyweights on their roster, nor do they have a backup 197 with Anthony Cassar not enrolled this year.  This lack of depth has apparently prompted Coach Sanderson to reach out to PSU Coach James Franklin for Jan Johnson's services (**UPDATE** It's official.  Jan Johnson has been added to the PSU wrestling roster as a heavyweight).

Johnson, a True Freshman linebacker, was a 2x PA State champ at 195 pounds.  He is currently listed on the PSU football roster as weighing 216 pounds.

Johnson wrestled in the prestigious Dapper Dan last year and fell to ASU Freshman Lance Benick.
