FloWrestler of the Week: Yianni Diakomihalis, NY
Yianni D is the real deal.

And if you weren’t convinced before, you damn sure are now.

He impressed each and every one of us more and more with every match he wrestle at Cadet Worlds in Bosnia. Yianni seemed to get stronger and stronger as the tournament went on. He started with a dominant performance and followed with another, and another.

He was so dominant that he didn’t give up a single point until the semifinals. And even when he gave up the initial takedown in the gold medal match, it was apparent that he wasn’t even fazed. He came back with an absolutely explosive four-point takedown and didn’t look back.

On the way to his title he attacked and collected takedowns almost at will, he locked up cradles and just overwhelmed his opponents with great pressure with no regard.

It’s pretty apparent that Yianni Diakomihalis is a straight up animal and that’s what makes him our FloWrestler of the Week.

Other FloWrestler of the Week Nominees:

Holmes’ pick: Jarod Verkleeren, PA
It's confirmed. Thanks to Jarod Verkleeren and fellow PA native and now two-time World Champ Spencer Lee, the leg lace is the official turn of the Keystone State. And don’t forget his clutch throw in the semis that earned him a spot in the gold medal match before he leg laced his way to a World title.

Bratke’s pick: Gable Steveson, MN
Gable Steveson is a showman. The performance he put on to earn his spot on the Cadet World Team propelled him to the top spot at the 220-pound weight class, and he’s done nothing but prove that it’s his with dominating in Fargo. But now he’s a World Champ and there’s no bigger way than that to prove that he’s the man to beat.

Willie’s pick: Ronna Heaton, SD
She shoots, she scores. You shoot, she scores. Ronna Heaton couldn’t have represented any better for Team USA. There were times where it looked like she was about to give up a takedown, but somehow regained control and scored a takedown of her own on a go-behind. She kept her feet moving constantly and just couldn’t be stopped. Great performance, Ronna.

CP’s pick: Daton Fix, OK
Though he took a loss, which was pretty much decided by the referee, Daton Fix had a relentless pace that made it tough for just about every one of his opponents to keep up with. And in true Fix fashion he put one hell of an exclamation point on his bronze medal victory where he decided to throw his opponent for four instead of easily bringing him to mat to get the tech.

Brock’s pick: Alleida Martinez, CA
It wasn’t easy for Alleida, who had her thigh and shoulder taped, but she earned her spot in the gold medal match. She had a few one-point victories after her first match fall and despite coming up short in the finals, Alleida proved that she truly is one of the best in the world.
