Two-time NCAA All-American, and 2015 NCAA finalist, Tyler Wilps has become the first volunteer assistant in the history of the University of Pittsburgh. The hire was announced by the Pittsburgh Wrestling Club on Twitter.
"Tyler is one of the smartest wrestlers I've ever coached. He didn't come in as one of the best in the country he had to figure it out," Pitt assistant coach Matt Kocher said. "That will help make him a great coach."

Wilps will not only be the volunteer assistant for Pitt, but will also serve as a full time coach with the Pittsburgh Wrestling Club.

Not only was Wilps a two-time All-American, but he was also a two-time captain for the Panthers, and was named the ACC Wrestling Scholar-Athlete of the year his senior season.

"Tyler led by example. We look for himt to continue to lead the team while having a close connection to the wrestlers," Kocher said.
