GOLD: Brent Metcalf (USA) v Franklin Maren (CUB)
Period 1: Underway here.  Brent immediately gets his hands on him.  Finger fight and Brent is trying to get the head.  Maren not engaging. Maren hits his ankle pick but Metcalf does a great job kicking out.  Still scoreless. Maren goes on the shot clock.  Deep shot from Maren and looks for the finish but Metcalf with a great defense to just give up the 1.  1-0 Maren.  Metcalf with a great angle on a single and a quick finish as the period ends!  2-1 Brent after 1.
Period 2: Underway, Metcalf immediately gets his hands on the head of Maren.  Another deep single and a finish for Metcalf.  4-1 with 2 minutes to go! Another TD for Metcalf and he goes straight to a lace for an 8-2 lead.  Missed Maren's 2nd point. That's how it ends.  Metcalf wins gold!  

GOLD: Angel Escobedo (USA) v Yowlys Bonne (CUB)
Period 1: Bonne looking pretty dang skinny down at 57.  First time making this low of a weight in awhile.  Underway here. Elbow control from Bonne.  Esco clears the tie.  1 minute in no scoring opporunities.  Escobedo given passivity warning. Escobedo faking but Bonne taking ground moreso and Escobedo will go on the shotclock.  1:26 down in period #1 and Angel is on the clock.  No real attempts from Escobedo and he gives up the point.  1-0 Bonne. Wrist fighting  and now some fakes from Bonne.  First period ends.
Period 2: We'll see if Esco or Bonne open it up here.  Bonne looked for elbow control shot, gets step out. 2-0 Bonne. High crotch from Bonne.  Escobedo looks for go behind and Bonne BOMBS Esco after Esco looked for a throw for 4!  Esco comes up to his feet and Bonne puts him down for 4 more!  Just like that!  10-0 Bonne and it's over!  

GOLD: Justina Distasio (CAN) v Adeline Gray (USA)
Period 1: Gray opening with fakes, staying nice and low.  Looking to run to a high single, Distasio steps out of it. Passivity warning against Distasio. Distasio going on the shot clock. Great single from Distasio but great better D from Gray and the shot clock expires.  1-0 Adeline.  High single from Adeline, has Distasio bouncing on one foot but Distasio puts her foot to the mat and evades.  1st period ends.
Period 2: Adeline picks up her physicality gets to the high single once more, this time just runs her out of bounds for 1.  2-0 Adeline. DEEP double by Distasio for 4!  4-2 Distasio!  World Champ in danger.  Adeline immediately responds with a TD to make it 4-4.  Distasio still leads.  Lace attempt by Adeline fails.  Adeline continuing to pressure forward.  Single leg by Adeline for 2 and a beautiful cutback finish!  Adeline working for the fall now.  Somehow only got 2 despite Distasio rolling on her back for about 20 seconds.  6-4 Adeline.   TD for Astasio and she takes the lead 6-6!  Crotch lift at the LAST second for Gray and I think she got it!  8-6 win for Gray!  Now Canada throwing the brick. Call stands.  Adeline wins 9-6!

With 2 days of competition now in the books Team USA has a total of 7 medals, 3 of them gold.  Action continues today with Men's Freestyle competing at 57kg and 65kg with Women's Freestyle competing at 63kg as well as 75kg.
