FloWrestler of the Week: Austin Gomez, Illinois
A pair of gold medals and a pair of boots aka Outstanding Wrestling Awards; that’s everything Austin Gomez brought back from the Cadet Pan Americans Championships in Guadalajara, Mexico.
The third-ranked 120-pounder in the country dominated his way to his first title in the Greco tournament with two pins and 10-2 decision, which earned him his first OW of the weekend. He followed it up with another outstanding performance to take home his second first place finish and OW award.
Gomez’s fantastic showing in Mexico helped lead Team USA to a pair of team titles as well with 20 medals (14 gold medals, 5 silver medals and one bronze medal).
With that leadership and two literally “outstanding” performances, Austin Gomez is the clear cut FloWrestler of the Week.
