Ironman Throwback Bracket-2009 119lbs
Ironman Throwback Bracket-2009 119lbs
Three NCAA All-Americans, two Fargo Champs, two Super 32 champs, and 13 state titles. Saying 2009’s 119lbs bracket was nails is an understatement.
On his way to taking the title, future Lehigh 133 pounder, Mason Beckman, knocked off former Old Dominion starter Jerome Robinson, current Cornell starter Mark Grey, and 2x Ohio State All-American Hunter Stieber. Beckman outscored those three by a 13-3 score, including a 7-1 win over Grey, and a controlling 3-0 win over Stieber in the finals.
Stieber made the finals after knocking off current Maryland 133-pounder Geoff Alexander 6-0, and squeaking by 3x Ohio State champ and Fargo national champ Ty Mitch 4-3 in a crazy (and somewhat controversial) semi.
Virginia Tech All-American, Nick Brascetta, was knocked off in the quarters by Mitch 7-3 before beating Alexander, Grey, and Robinson in three consecutive matches to take third.
After falling to Beckman in the quarters, Jerome Robinson, beat current Ohio University 133-pounder Kagan Squire, and Ty Mitch before falling to Brascetta for third.
Mitch edged Grey 5-4 in the fifth place bout, and Alexander defeated Squire 4-2 to claim seventh.
