Chris Perry v. Robert Hamlin at Who's #1

Chris Perry will be coming to Robert Hamlin’s home turf on October 18th and attempting to defeat the two time NCAA Runner-Up in front of the rabid Lehigh contingent at the Snake Pit.

Perry, a two time NCAA Champion at Oklahoma State, finished 2nd in the University World Championships this Summer.

Hamlin, a Vermont native earned 3 All American honors at Lehigh. The last time these two met it was Hamlin the victor in the 2011 NCAA Quarterfinals. Since graduating from Lehigh, Hamlin has been active on the Freestyle circuit training at the Lehigh Valley Athletic Club.

This bout features two excellent technicians. Perry will certainly have the edge on the mat, while Hamlin’s neutral aggression will be key for his success. Hamlin finding a way to get to the legs and finish will be his key to success. The less more of a shoot-out it becomes and less of a tactical chess match, the more that bout favors Hamlin. If Perry is able to control the ties, get to legs and get on top, it could be a tough match for Hamlin.

The two have only met on one occasion, the 2011 NCAA quarters, where Hamlin was the victor.  Now Perry heads to Hamlin's home turf, looking for revenge.

Perry had this to say about the opportunity to wrestle in Who’s #1:

“I am very excited to compete again and get back in front of a great crowd. After getting second at University worlds and losing in the last 20 second it left a bad taste in my mouth.

"This is great event and can help me get the ball rolling for this 2015 freestyle season and also get to watch some amazing high school wrestlers.

"Robert is a good wrestler. I am excited to get to wrestle him and have the opportunity to compete in his old college gym and get the chance to wrestle in a good atmosphere.”

Robert offered his thoughts on the match as well:

"I'm really excited to wrestle Chris, we wrestled once before and it was a very close match. He has got a lot better from that time.  Anytime you get a chance to wrestle someone like that, you jump at the opportunity.

"I'm excited to wrestle again at Grace Hall.  I've been out for a year but I miss it already."

There are a number of unknowns in this bout and with two superstar Folkstyle talents, there’s little question that this will be one of the most anticipated bouts of Who’s #1!
