Hall-Valencia Headline Who's #1
Hall-Valencia Headline Who's #1
The 2013 offseason set up a dramatic headlining bout for Who's #1. New Jersey's Johnny Sebastian won FloNationals while Missouri stud Michael Pixley dominated Fargo.
It created a stir as fan bases in both states clamored and trash talked for top billing for 'their guy' with certainty.
Who's #1 settled the debate, and at the time, we wondered how long it would be until a situation like that would manifest again.
We didn't have to wait long...
Anthony Valencia (CA) and Mark Hall (MN) will not only wrestled for the top spot in their weight class, but for the right to be called Pound-for-Pound king.
Hall's story is of legendary proportions, winning state and national titles as young as 7th grade. Heading in to his Junior year of high school, he owns wins over current college studs. He punctuated his summer with a Cadet World title in Slovakia in July.
And while Anthony Valencia has always been very good and highly ranked, it was not until this time last year that his stock skyrocketed. It started with an overtime win over Hall in October 2013 followed by an Ironman title where he beat Myles Martin, then the #1 prospect in the Class of 2015. But he was only getting started. In the spring he blitzed the field at Fila Juniors and the Junior World Team Trials.
The Cadet World Champion, The Prodigy Mark Hall vs. Anthony Valencia, the most dominant HS wrestler in the country. It's for all the marbles and will go down October 18th.
This mega match-up is the first WNO bout to be released and will be the final High School match of the night before two NCAA Champions clash.
The rest of the line-up, including the finale, will be released in the coming weeks.
