Most of the Nation’s action centered around the Beat The Streets where we saw countless exemplary efforts in our battle against some of the World’s most accomplished and talented wrestlers. Brent Metcalf faced the World’s top ranked wrestler Magomed Kurbanaliev and downed him in an 11-8 battle. Brent’s attacks and pace proved to be too much against an extremely athletic and slick Kurbanaliev. For his efforts, Brent Metcalf has been named the Brute Wrestler of the Week.

Other Brute Wrestler of the Week Nominees:

Jimmy Kennedy-Though Metcalf beat the highest ranked guy, I believe Kennedy was given one of the toughest tests of anyone. He went from falling to Bogomoev in lopsided fashion, to reversing the result all together. Kennedy’s 2-1 win over Bogomoev was among the highlights for Team USA at Beat the Streets!

Zach Synon-The Missouri lightweight took home a title at 61 KG at the Northern Plains Regional. Synon downed his own teammate, All American Alan Waters en route to the title.

Ed Ruth-A Tech fall the hard way, though Ed made it look easy. We see plenty of techs when guys get the TD and wrap up a gut for 4 turns and there’s the match. Taking down a defensive specialist like Friev 5 times while ceding no points speaks volumes as to the level Ed is wrestling at right now.

David Taylor-He mesmerized the crowd for a 6-0 win against the very accomplished Hasanov, a World Bronze medalist. He scores in new and unique ways each match.

Jordan Burroughs-Fired the crowd up in a major way when he absolutely broke Sanakoev and got ANOTHER pin. He never fails to deliver.
