USA Wrestling has officially brought Bruce Burnett back into the fold as National Freestyle Coach in the wake of Zeke Jones’ departure for Arizona State. Jones manned the helm for over 5 years.

This is a familiar position for Coach Burnett who was the National Freestyle coach for 7 years from 1993-2000. He was the Head Coach at the Naval Academy for 13 years as well from 2000-2013 before retiring from the post in September. During Coach Burnett’s time at USA wrestling the country saw consistent success including two World titles as well as a 9 athletes winning a total of 11 World Titles.

Coach Burnett has kept his Freestyle coaching chops honed over the years. He coached at the 2014 World Cup, the 2012 Junior World Team as well as the 2011 Pan American games.

Coach Burnett will assume this position through the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
