On Wednesday Ed Ruth's freestyle chops will be put to the test as he is set to take on Taymuraz Friev of Spain at Beat The Streets.

Friev is a well accomplished Freestyler on the Senior level having placed 5th at Worlds and recently winning the Grand Prix of France as well as the 2013 Grand Prix of France.

This will be the first meeting between the two in a match many American's are looking forward to.  Friev is not athletically impressive and can struggle against more powerful wrestlers.  He shoots a great single to Ed's lead leg, but rarely pulls the trigger.

One aspect of Friev's game that could be problematic for Ed is Friev's ability to slow it down and rely on forward pressure, just begging you to take a bad shot.  I'm worried that Ed could shoot himself out of the match.  That is one of the few pathways I see for Ed to lose the match.  I think Cael and company will have Ed better prepared than that.  Ed could give up a few cheap points, however, I see him scoring enough takedowns and generally outclassing Friev from neutral.

Ed's par Terre offerings are minimal at this point, but in the film I've watched of Friev, top wrestling is not his biggest strength.  So while Ed is a novice in many areas, I don't think Friev is the guy to exploit him.  Good stuff for the Truth!  Cannot wait to watch this!
