Wait, which guy knocked of Logan Stieber this year? Which guy was one of the best Freshmen this season? The guy who lost? That makes zero sense.

Not much of what Aaron Pico has done throughout his career has followed conventional wisdom or logic. 16 year olds don’t beat Senior level Russians. They don’t beat Cadet World Champs who have a year of college wrestling under their belt in the Nation’s best room. Aaron does.

After his dominant run at FILA Jr’s this week capped with a dominant 7-0 win over Zain Retherford, Aaron Pico was our choice for Brute Wrestler of the Week!

Other Brute Wrestler of the Week Nominee’s:

RaVaughn Perkins-The bodylock that shook the Greco-Roman landscape. Trailing 4-1 in the 2nd period to Olympian and Greco phenom Ellis Coleman, RaVaughn needed a big move and he got one. The body lock for the fall earned RaVaughn a US Open title.

Helen Maroulis-Another dominant performance for Helen. Ranked 3rd in the World, Helen won in dominant fashion with an 11-0 tech fall in the finals for her 5th US Open title!

Jimmy Kennedy-The Illini alum out of the Cliff Keen Wrestling club proved he is a World level contender with his win over Olympic Bronze medalist Coleman Scott.

Anthony Valencia-It was a finals thriller for the Bosco Junior against another California legend in Isaiah Martinez. If you haven’t caught this one, do yourself a favor and watch it. Now. Not many guys are winning FILA Jr titles as juniors in high school. Especially against a solid college wrestler in I-Mar, but that’s just what he did.

Adam Coon-The Wolverine came home with not one but two titles. Both in dominant fashion. Coon was a winner by fall over Sam Stoll (Junior World Team Member) in the Greco finals, and a winner by tech-falll over Garrett Ryan.
