The official High School National Championships is coming your way this weekend! FloNationals, now in its 5th year, has snowballed in popularity and national impact since its conception, and this year's tournament is set to raise the bar yet again. The competition level still stands as the cornerstone of the event but as usual with FloNationals, we're delivering some game changers: for starter's we're showing 3x NCAA Champion Ed Ruth in his first professional match. More on 2014 FloNationals below.

The Depth
Over three dozen nationally ranked wrestlers enter this year's FloNationals -with nearly half of them ranked in the top 10. No brackets stand out more than the 120lbs and 126lbs brackets though. Over a dozen ranked wrestlers constitute these loaded weights. At 120lbs, nationally ranked #1 Luke Pletcher will try to hold off half a dozen nationally ranked wrestlers while on the way avenging his last loss to '13 FloNationals runner-up, #4 Nick Piccininni.  126 should be a dog fight too.  I'm looking for '13 FloNational champ & former nationally ranked #1 Sam Krivus to rebound in a big way after a tough scholastic season, but he'll have to best the same wrestlers who got the best of him at PA States.  Also look out for X-Factors Trae Blackwell (who is currently unranked but won Folkstyle Nationals last year) and formerly top 10 ranked Jaydin Clayton (MO) who will be coming down in weight from 138lbs to 126lbs.

Ed Ruth's First Professional Match VS. Matt Wilps
A real treat for the fans (both in the Kovalchick Complex & online), the Ruth v. Wilps match spotlights one of the greatest collegiate wrestlers of all time, 3x NCAA Champ Ed Ruth, vs. University of Pittsburgh mainstay and program legend, 2x All American Matt Wilps.  A decieving match up, the Ruth vs. Wilps bout seems to
heavily favor Ruth, but let's not be so quick to count Wilps out.  The now assistant head coach at Pitt pinned 2x NCAA Champ Quentin Wright at the 2012 All Star Classic and was an overtime loss (to Wright) away from making it to the NCAA Finals as a senior.  He's good, he's big and he'll bring the heat vs. Ruth on Saturday night.

The Stage & The Belts
In an effort to give those competing at FloNationals an experience like none other, Flo brought in Championship belts and the BIG STAGE! FloNationals Championship belts will be given to the winner of each high school weight class. And let's not forget about the BIG STAGE -it's so big I have to spell it out in all caps. The BIG STAGE will be set up for the finals to give high school finalists the feel of wrestling on a platform as we expect them to do one day at NCAA's. Ruth and Wilps will take to the BIG STAGE on Saturday night.
