Harvard’s Fox, Preston and Ng Named to All-Ivy League Teams

Fox was a unanimous pick to the first team after earning second team honors a year ago (Gil Talbot).

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – James Fox was named to the All-Ivy League first team on Thursday, highlighting a trio of Crimson who earned recognition from the conference's head coaches.

Fox, a two-time NCAA Qualifier, was unanimously selected to the first team at 197 lbs. Despite missing time early in the year due to injury, Fox has rebounded to go 14-7 overall, including a 5-0 record against Ivy League competition. The junior has won eight straight matches and 10 of his last 12, and has picked up four major decisions and two falls on the year. Fox is now a two-time All-Ivy League honoree, after having been named to the second team last season.

Todd Preston has burst onto the scene as a sophomore, posting a team-best 19-8 overall record with a 4-1 mark in the Ancient Eight to be named to the All-Ivy League second team at 141 lbs. The lone blemish on his league slate came in a 1-0 decision against Cornell's Mike Nevinger, a unanimous pick to the first team and currently the 11^th-ranked wrestler in the country. Preston has won all six of his matches since the setback to Nevinger and 10 of his last 11 overall, and boasts two wins over nationally ranked opponents. He began his year with a second-place showing at the Keystone Classic, reached the round of 12 at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invite, and along the way has registered two falls and two tech-falls.

David Ng finished the dual meet schedule with an 8-8 overall record, 2-1 in the Ivy League. Ng, who was named All-Ivy League honorable mention, suffered his only league loss to Cornell's Jacob Aiken-Phillips, a unanimous pick to the first team at heavyweight. The junior competed at the Jonathan Kaloust Bearcat Open, Keystone Classic and Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invite for the Crimson, and sported a 5-3 record in dual meets.

Harvard will return to the mats next week at the 2014 EIWA Championships, being held this year at The Palestra in Philadelphia March 8-9.
